Ivan made himself as comfortable as he could, sitting with his back against the grating, his legs and arms bound and out in front of him, knees pulled up to his chest. He sat and listened to Merr, grasping for the little comfort it brought to hear the familiarity of his voice. He nodded inwardly, taking in every little detail to keep his thoughts from straying. When Merr paused, listening to the sounds of the gas coming in, Ivan tensed, waiting for him to start speaking again but when he did, it was nothing he wanted to hear. "Gas?" He echoed, turning his blindly in fear. He couldn't see what was happening, or hear as well as the demon, but his coughs soon reached his ears. "Merr? Merr what's happening?" Ivan shook, listening to the sound of claws scraping against the ground followed by the sound of singed fur. He'd been shocked. Ivan's breathing sped up, he was terrified but he was only rushing the flow of the gas into his lungs. Within seconds of hearing Merr collapse, his own body was slumped against the grating, and he was gasping for the air that wasn't there.
