Daniella's smile didn't fade. "High quality food...from the local supermarket?"

"No," Syth murmured as he shook his head, still watching the little puppy.

[FoodIsYummy]

"Wait, no it's not from the supermarket or no it's not high quality?" Daniella asked, a little bit confused.

"Not from the supermarket," Syth mumbled as he caught Aery, right as she was about to fall off the edge of the counter.

"Did you make it?" Daniella asked, sounding a little surprised.

"Some of it," Syth mumbled as he placed Aery in his lap.

"Wow Syth, I didn't know you could cook!" Daniella said.

Syth glanced at her with an arched eyebrow. "I'm 400 years old. You pick it up along the way," he chuckled.

"Well, it's cool." Daniella said.

"My job, Mary," he answered rather testily, still technically telling the truth. But Jacky did not know of Amare's other line of work; nor did she know why in order to obey her wishes, to continue to stay with her in this world, he had to continue on in the same line of work. He sliced the egg into two halves with the edge of the spatula, scooping both halves onto a plate and then flipping the halves over so that they were omelets. He brought the two plates over to them, placing a fork on each plate, simultaneously picking up one of the large leather bound books, flipping through it distractedly as he went to sit back down. "Tell me if you would like any salt," he added.

Jacky narrowd her eyes. "And that would be?"

Amare proceded to ignore Jacky, instead picking up the stack of papers and flipping through them wearily. "Kyoko, did you bring your bag with you from the ship?" he asked the girl, sparing a glance at her over the papers, purposefully avoiding Jacky's eyes.
