The Outcasts ((Accepting))

Amare blinked and then put the spoon back down, covering up the bowl of sugar and bringing both back into the kitchen, where he threw them in the cabinet. "So how was your journey?" Amare asked in an obvious attempt to change the subject. "Does the Lorelei Lee still out-sail my Athena?" He gave a dry grin and sat down with his tea, scooping up a stack of term papers.

Jacky rolled her eyes. "Do not try to change the subject my dear. And yes...It still does." She sighed happily.

Kyoko sat there and stared into the blackness of her tea.

Syth looked at her and arched an eyebrow as he continued toward his house, but didn't say a word.

Daniella kept following him. She was wondering what was up with him. He always started getting all secluded. It was a tad bit annoying.

Syth glanced at her again. "Sorry," he mumbled, then continued walking, entering town, and walked right through.

"Maybe we should race again," Amare challenged, still derisively moving off subject. He glanced over at Kyoko over the stack of papers, noticing how out of place she looked. "Are you hungry?" he asked. "I don't suppose either of you have had breakfast?" He flipped through the papers distractedly, dreading the work load he had in front of him.

Jacky crossed her arms. "After you finally tell me the true."

Kyoko looked up. "oh um...sure...i guess..."

Amare did not respond right away, instead putting down the term papers and sliding off the stool, taking two eggs from the nearly barren refrigerator and cracking them into a pan as he lit the stove once more. He put cheese and a mix of various herbs on top as the egg soldified, shifting the pan every now and then so that the egg would not burn. All the while he did this, he was thinking on how to answer Jacky convincingly. "I have just been very busy, Mary," he said feebly, the weariness showing in his voice. "There is no truer truth than that." And it was true; Amare had been very busy. Very busy indeed.

Jacky crossed her arms. "And what have you been busy doing?? Mmm??"

"My job, Mary," he answered rather testily, still technically telling the truth. But Jacky did not know of Amare's other line of work; nor did she know why in order to obey her wishes, to continue to stay with her in this world, he had to continue on in the same line of work. He sliced the egg into two halves with the edge of the spatula, scooping both halves onto a plate and then flipping the halves over so that they were omelets. He brought the two plates over to them, placing a fork on each plate, simultaneously picking up one of the large leather bound books, flipping through it distractedly as he went to sit back down. "Tell me if you would like any salt," he added.

Syth glanced at her again. "Sorry," he mumbled, then continued walking, entering town, and walked right through.

Daniella looked around at the town. She hadn't been her many times. Mostly just to buy groceries and stuff. Before she met Syth, she spent most of her time either holed up in her house reading, watching T.V, and surfing the Internet, or walking around in the woods.

Syth went to the near outscurs (sp) of town, approaching a large, white, luxurious house. He climbed up the steps, reaching out his hand to brush along a marble pillar out from, then opened the large front, mostly designed glass door to inside.

Daniella's eyes widened. He lived here? She'd seen this once when she took the long route home from the supermarket. She'd assumed some rich, snobby person lived there. "This is your house?" She asked in awe.
