Skyler nodded, heading towards the chair and sitting down. She maintained a wary posture, prepared to leap to her feet at any moment. The scientist assured her that he and his friend were real, and Skyler sincerely hoped that was the truth. Especially when she heard footsteps approaching, and a very familiar person stepped into the room.
"HSCL01," the white-clad scientist greeted, "I see you've been having fun."
Skyler stiffened, and shot a glance towards the two SHIELD personnel, with the intent if gaining confirmation as to whether this new person was real or a figment of her imagination. Only, the two SHIELD scientists weren't there, and only the plain walls of a Hydra cell stared back at her.
"You didn't think it was real, did you? Although, I suppose that was the point. And I must say, we are very disappointed in you."
Skyler growled under her breath, avoiding meeting his gaze straight on but watching him sideways, her head slightly ducked.
"Tell me," the scientist said, leaning forward, his tone taking on a slightly threatening edge, "did you have fun? Did you like your time with SHIELD? You switched sides pretty quickly."
"Better than this place," she muttered under her breath. There was no benefit to silence this time, and though she was normally silent when the scientists and other personnel were around, she doubted anything she said would make things worse. She found a bit of satisfaction when the scientist wrinkled his nose in disgust, before he straighten up and calmed his features.
"Remember the Winter Soldier files we let you read? Remember what we did with him?"
Skyler's heart rate quickened. No, no, they couldn't do that to her! The one thing that had kept her going all this time, kept her from fighting harder, was the fear of them deciding to just take control of her mind. As long as she was in control, they couldn't make her kill anyone. But if they wiped it, programmed it like they did others, she wouldn't be herself anymore. Just another weapon.
As if reading her thoughts, the scientist smirked. "You can't stop us. Remember the sequence you read about?"
"I don't have a sequence," Skyler hissed back, "it would have messed with your precious data."
"How do you know? All those times you blacked out after experiments, we could have installed a sequence anytime we liked."
"I would have noticed a difference," Skyler replied, though she was a little less certain.
"Either way, the machine will work just as well."
"No." She shook her head vigorously, shutting her eyes, trying to get rid of what she hoped was the hallucination. "No, you're not real."
"The game is up, HSCL01. And we will be sure that you don't turn on us in reality."
"No, the last couple of days couldn't have been a hallucination. SHIELD couldn't have been a hallucination. This, this must be the hallucination." She shook her head again. "Get out of my head."

Zack considered the offer. While he liked setting his own rules, it would be nice to be able to do more than just stun the bad guys and hope the police would take care of it. More resources would be nice as well, as it was kinda hard to make quality stuff with just day job minimum wage earnings. "Theoretically, what would joining entail?"
