Nahaiu kicked at the vine with her heel until it released her. She gave it one last good kick before scrambling up to her feet and running like a bat out of hell. Her hair whipped behind her madly as she ran the direction she came. She didn’t dare look back, jumping over roots and avoiding them, as if expecting them to come alive. It didn’t take long for her to run past Blue, but she didn’t stop. “The plants are alive!” Nahaiu shouted to him, sounding like a crazy person.

Kankure stared at the wall. He was not sure what that meant, but it didn’t matter. He fiddled with the ends of his snow white hair, pale skin rather bright in the dark hallway as the moonlight of the freshly arisen crescent shone off his skin. “There are twenty-six less of my family because of me….” he whispered. His nimble fingers stopped messing with his hair as he pulled his knees up and wrapped his arms around them in a lazy fashion. Not even pulling his knees to his chest. “Twenty six lives I have extinguished… It is the reason I am here. I am not allowed back until I have control over Dante.”
‘Ha, that is never going to happen.’ Dante replied in his head. ‘You should really get used to the idea you were kicked out, because you aren’t going back.’
“Dina, Morier! [Be silent, Dark one]” Kankure snapped at him in hushed tone. Perhaps sounding like he was talking to himself since no one else was there. It was strange, their conversations, as Dante never shut up.
‘ooOOooo, aren’t you just the angry boy. I wonder if puberty will ever set in for you, you sound like a girl. Ha! You’ll never have enough testosterone for that. Your just a wimp.’ Dante replied, chuckling.
“Tampa tanya. [Stop that]” Kankure ordered. But it arose only more laughter on Dante’s part. Kankure sighed. “Amin delotha lle. Kela n‘ael [I hate you. Go away already]” he spoke, tired of having to put up with this childish demon.
‘Ha! Childish! Oh, I can’t wait to kill you and that demon teacher of yours. It’ll be a blood bath to remember. If you want an open casket, I can always just chop your head off and let my dear mortician stitch it back on.’ Dante started laughing hysterically again. Kankure put a hand to his head, wanting it to stop. He was annoying and was giving him a headache.

Yuriasu wrote down something else. “You may use the last of class to study the material or speak to your classmates.” he replied. The paper folded and disappeared, the pen floating down to the desk.
