Nahaiu smiled warmly, happy to be leading Blue somewhere this time. Their footsteps lightly tapped on the white tiled floor as they passed window after window that overlooked the quart yard- light streaming within the windows as they brightened the hallways. Nahaiu walked quickly, her black shoes tapping on the floor as she moved against the will of her worn jeans, which were still rather tight and seemed new, trying to restrict her movements. Her simple pink shirt etching the images of black lines that resembled large open flowers and koifish. She didn’t look back at Blue as she practically ran up the steps, further leading him deeper into the school as they took the stairs again and again until finally there was a metal door ahead.
She softly let go of Blue’s hand, pounding her palms against it full force and shoving it open. The door swung open and softly banged on the side of the wall. The blinding light of the sun hitting them full force as the sun hung high above the school in bright rays of warmth. Nahaiu twirled around, grabbing both his hands and pulling him up onto the flat cement surface of the roof. There were actually few benches up here. Made of white cement and sitting alone on either side of the roof with two more curved at the opposite side of the door. Potted plants lay in tall bushed at the edges of the roof, standing upon the elevated ledge with overflowing green tear-drop leaves with soft white spots near the tips. Their waxy skin giving a shine against the sun.
The roof over looked the vast forest of green trees, and the never ending sea of blue sky that trailed above as clouds passed by, seeming closer than ever. The courtyard stood bellow, with the few trees around the empty grassy areas and cobblestone walkways up to the school and leading to the two dorms. You could easily see the birds flying over the trees together, disappearing into the forest once more. Nahaiu walked over to the edge with blue and put her hands on the ledge, leaning forward a tad and smiling. The ledge reaching just past her waist.
A gust of cool wind breezed by them, ruffling her light brown hair back from her face and swaying it behind her back. The wind tousling her shirt and her hair as she gave a happy giggle. “Mmm,” She sighed, staring up at the sky. “I just love heights. It makes me feel so much closer to the sky, you know?” Nahaiu explained, raising her hand to the sky as if to grasp out to it.
