Holding onto the kishin egg with somewhat shaky hands, Abigail just stared at it like she was suddenly finding it the most interesting object on the face of the planet. It wasn't like she had a choice in actually consuming it, because she couldn't absorb it in unique ways like Liz and Patty. Instead, she was one of the types of weapons that didn't have a choice. Staring at it, she took in a deep breath, trying not to cry. But of course, she couldn't help it anymore, and a few tears slowly rolled down her cheeks, one of them mixing with the little trail of blood that dripped down her chin. Speaking of which, she finally acknowledged that her lip was bleeding again, but she didn't do anything about it. Lifting her gaze to look at Nico, she sniffled quietly, nearly flinching away from him out of habit as he bent down slightly to look directly into her eyes. However, she forced herself to stay put, and watched him with her broken and scared forest green eyes. She knew he probably thought he was being too forward, but she really didn't care. Honestly, it made her happy that he cared about her this much, and it eased her worries a bit. The blonde allowed him to pull her into a hug, and the second his arms were wrapped around her, she lost it. Letting out a strangled sounding sob, she nodded slightly, tears flowing from her eyes at a more constant rate now. "O-Okay... I'm sorry, I'll try not to act," she stuttered out quietly, her voice shaking like a leaf. Watching him pull away from her and kiss her forehead, she blushed lightly, taking in a shaky breath and trying to calm herself down. "Yeah, that... that sounds... f-fine," Abigail managed to say, her voice still shaking like a leaf. Of course she understood what he meant - it's just that she was horrified to know what was going on with her soul wavelength. Closing her eyes, she slowly began to calm down, still holding onto the kishin egg in her hands rather carefully.

For some reason, Olivia highly doubted that he would actually start going to bed sooner at a more appropriate time, but it made her happy to know he would at least try for her. "Okay, thank you. Honestly I'm surprised that I don't live with you, merely in order to ensure when you go to bed," she said, grinning faintly as her bright silver eyes drifted over to look at Stein. Holding her hands behind her back, the woman glanced around, noticing that they had finally arrived to one of their classrooms. "Well, we should part ways now and get ready to teach, yeah?" she said, lifting an eyebrow slightly.

Reaching up to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear, Isabella smiled at Toki, observing his body language as she did so. He seemed to be rather annoyed from her very presence, so her smile faltered for a split second before she full-on smiled again. How could someone be this irritated with her? Usually, she made people happier just by walking into the room, yet here he was, not getting any happier. Huh. Well, he was surely going to be a tough one to crack, but she would be successful at some point in time. Shaking her head slightly, her hair swayed around atop her head and she smiled a bit brighter. "Well, you may think that a name is just a name, but I don't," she responded, keeping it short and simple. Blinking her hazel eyes, she slowly nodded her head in understanding. "Ah, I see. It's pretty cool, though, so I could see why people acted like that. I'm just your average weapon that can transform into pistols and swords," she said with a shrug.

The boy gave his weapon a small smile, putting a hand on the side of her cheek and using his thumb to wipe away one of the multiple streams of tears that streaked Abigail's face. Whatever was wrong with her, with her soul, they would work out together, no matter what, he just didn't want to see her like this. She was so fragile, a priceless artifact that he wanted to protect from those who wanted to break her. They would need to talk about it, maybe with Stein even, he knew a lot about things like this, but they still had a job to do.
Noticing that she still hadn't consumed the soul, Nico nodded towards it. "Want me to hold onto it? I-if you don't want to eat it here." She had never been comfortable with eating souls, it was unfortunate that she wasn't a type of weapon that could consume it indirectly, it had to be swallowed like food, and she didn't like it as much as other weapons seemed to. Maybe he could do something with it to make it better, it wasn;t like the soul was going anywhere.
Nico looked around the street nervously, tapping his hand against his side, a nervous habit. Abigail had said her words like she was certain the kids were even still alive. No bodies had been uncovered, though that was certainly not a sure sign that the children were okay, there were a lot of nooks and crannies that a kishin could hide things like that. But they would still search even if it was futile, they couldn't let the chance of rescuing children pass them up.

Taking in one last deep, shaky breath, Abigail cracked a small smile, the look of horror easing up a bit. But no matter what she did, it was going to be there for a while, until they figured out what was going on with her. Unknowingly leaning into his touch out of pure instinct, she sniffled and reached up, hesitantly and shyly placing her hand over his. "Thank you, Nico... thank you for your willingness to put up with my stupid weaknesses and fears. It means a lot to me that you stick by my side no matter what," she whispered softly, unable to contain her emotions once again as tears began escaping her forest green eyes and she let go of his hand, her own hand dropping back down to her side. This time, however, she was crying tears of sadness, happiness and, of course, fear. It was going to take her at least three or four days until she was fully back to normal, because when something scared her, it took her a long time to recover from it. Well, that is, it took her longer to recover from things like this than it did for other people. It was like the poor girl was a glass angel that got kicked around and beaten up by everyone and everything she encountered, eventually breaking into hundreds of pieces that could barely be put back together, and could possibly remain broken for the rest of time. If she wasn't treated with the utmost care, she would surely be broken beyond repair one day. Blinking, she glanced down at the soul and sheepishly nodded, looking back up towards her much taller meister and best friend. "P-Please, if you don't mind... I'm sorry I'm so uncomfortable with eating these things," she said quietly, feeling like a fool for not being able to directly consume souls and be comfortable with it like other weapons did. The fatigued blonde looked around the street, noticing that Nico was tapping his hand against his side. By now, she had learned that it was a common nervous habit of his. Sniffling, she reached up with one hand and wiped away her tears again, turning her gaze back towards Nico. "Come on... let's go. I just want to find these kids, get them back to safety and go home," Abigail said, sounding extremely soft spoken at the moment and quiet. There was no way she was going to leave here without knowing she could possibly save the kids. And she refused to believe that they were... dead. If they found one of the children unmoving and whatnot, she was sure to break down on the spot and scream. When it came to kids and animals, she couldn't handle seeing so much as a scratch on them, and seeing them dead? That would break her heart into millions of microscopic pieces.

"Well, I'm your partner. The weapon dies for the meister, the meister dies for the weapon, right? ."
It was out of a textbook, but he had taken those words to heart and it had become more than a few cold words in ink on a page. He wouldn't let anyone harm Abigail, he would die for her in a heartbeat, or rather lack of one if the kishin decided to rip the organ out of his chest. He blushed lightly when he felt her lean into his touch, but was also relieved that she hadn't instead pulled away.
The pair began to walk down the darkened street. The mission slip only had a bit of information on the kishin's nest. It was apparently in a train tunnel, who's tracks haven't been used for any actual trains in years, though no information on the exact location within the tunnel could be found, as no one had dared to get close, though if the children were going to be anywhere they would be in there.
the two walked along the lamp-lit streets, the grinning moon and the silhouette of the academy above them, rising above Death City, the turrets and skulls and spikes stark against the navy, star-spotted sky.
Nico had taken the soul from Abigail, storing it back into the bag that he had brought partially for this reason. His wounds from the fight were still fresh, in an almost consistent frequency over his body. none of them were deep, but they stung and smarted whenever he moved the wrong way and he could tell that he would need to treat them when they got back or else they might get infected. he was just glad he hadn't broken anything, that would have taken a long time to heal. They soon came to the tunnel, its yawning black mouth leading into the dark unknown.

Gazing up at him with her vivid forest green eyes, Abigail slowly nodded in agreement with him, a tiny smile tugging the corners of her lips upwards. "Yeah. We're a team until the very end, and it's our duty to protect each other," she said quietly. Of course she knew it was out of a textbook, but she didn't care. The second she had read it, she took those words to heart, and they meant much more to her than some stupid words printed in ink. If she had to, she would pay with her life in order to protect Nico in a life or death situation. A light blush still on her cheeks, she let out a soft, shaky sigh, feeling very grateful that out of all of the people she could have chosen, she ended up as Nico's weapon partner. It felt so nice to know that he was willing to do anything for her. Beginning to walk down the darkened street next to Nico, she glanced up at the grinning moon, involuntarily shuddering at the sight of it. For some reason, ever since she moved to Death City to attend the DWMA, she found both the sun and the moon to be extremely... off-putting, to put it simply. The blonde moved closer to her much taller friend as they walked, not because she was afraid this time, but more because she needed to have some sort of physical contact with him to make her feel safe. Especially since she was still beyond worried about what was going on with her soul wavelength. Sighing, she thought about their destination, and all of the possible things they might have to see. What if they found the train tunnel, and within it, they found... the corpses of those kids? God, that would break her. Deciding not to think about that anymore, she glanced over at Nico, observing the wounds he acquired from the fight. Some of them didn't look the best, but none of them appeared to be deep. Once they got back home, she would have to make sure to treat them so they wouldn't get infected. At the sight of the tunnel, the girl froze solid, staring at it with slightly wide eyes. The darkness within it seemed never ending, and unfortunately, one of her biggest fears was not being able to see a single thing in the dark. Hopefully she would be able to see something or another. "Well, let's get this over with," the blonde said quietly, staring up at Nico once again.

The two slowly approached the entrance of the tunnel. It was large and silent, and the darkness so thick that Nico could only see a few feet into the entrance before it was shrouded back into it's own murky darkness. Digging around in his bag for a moment, the meister produced a small flashlight. He should've really bought a new one, it wasn't very bright, only throwing a small ring of light upon the ground, but it was better than nothing. He could feel Abigail almost against him, their bodies just a hairsbreadth away from one another. It was nice, she was...warm. His face turned a slightly darker shade of pink at the thought, though he hope the night would consume the evidence.
They approached the tunnel, Nico shining the ight in a circle around the outside before they went in.
the temperature dropped almost as soon as they stepped inside, making Abigail's warmth that much more noticeable. The tracks that they walked along were wet with condensation, and the faint dripping of some far off water source echoed through the darkness. Keeping his flashlight at the ready, Nico walked with slow, intentional steps, making a conscious efort not to trip over the uneven tracks that wree laid along the center of the structure. The sides of the tunnel were stone gleaming with cold wetness, and the occasional tiny scuffle resounded near the ground, no doubt mice or rats or whetever other little creatures made their home here.
"Is anyone here?" Nico called softly, his voice resonating through the cave-like construct.

Professor Stein
"Well, I wouldn't mind if you had to live with me." he said, a faint smile on his face as they arrived at one of their classrooms. He peered inside and saw that it was Olivia's classroom. "Looks like this one is yours. I'll see you after classes are over." he responded, opening the door to his partner's classroom and holding it open for her.

As she stared up at Nico, Abigail became aware of the very close proximity between the two of them, and of course, the extremely shy girl blushed lightly. However, she was in no state to step away from him, so instead, she just moved closer to him so that she was indeed fully against him. Tearing her gaze away from the much taller male, she looked back towards the darkness of the tunnel. Hearing him dig around in his bag for a moment, she nearly sighed in relief upon seeing a small ring of light appearing in front of them. It wasn't much, but she didn't care as long as she could see something or another. "Thanks, Nico," she breathed out, hesitantly reaching out to lightly clutch onto his arm. The poor girl was horrified of the dark when she couldn't see anything, so it was going to be hard for her to be inside the tunnel without holding onto him for dear life. Walking inside the tunnel with her meister, she immediately shivered at the feeling of the noticeably colder air. Abigail was quite sensitive to temperature changes, as she was one of those people that could detect things like that. Watching the path ahead of them, she made sure to be careful while walking over the uneven tracks. It was dead silent, save for the sounds of their breathing and their footsteps, and the scuffling sounds coming from near the ground, as well as faint dripping. To sum it up, this tunnel was the very definition of... eerie. Making sure to be completely silent, she listened for any type of reply to Nico's voice, since the blonde was sure she would be able to hear the smallest of noises. And, of course, she could. Moments later, she could pick up the incredibly faint sound of breathing, and could tell that it sounded like the source of the noise had been crying. "Nico, I think I hear one of those kids in here," she whispered under her breath, gesturing in the direction of the incredibly faint noises she could hear. "Right now, though, I only hear one..." she trailed off. No. There was no way she could think about the possibility of the other two kids being gone. They had to find them, right?

Blinking her bright silver eyes in slight surprise, Olivia glanced up at Stein, raising an eyebrow slightly. "Seriously? Well... maybe that's something we should consider. We are a team, after all, right?" she said, catching the faint smile on his face and allowing a small smile to tug at the corners of her lips as well. Turning back to look inside her classroom, the woman gave a small nod, stepping inside and turning to look back at him. "Thank you. We can go speak to Death once classes are over. I'll see you then," she said, flashing him a small smile and walking further into the classroom. Approaching her desk, she looked around, making sure she had anything she needed for the day's lesson.

Nico | Meister | 18

Nico shrugged slightly, as though saying "of course. The meister had felt his partner move against him and tensed for a second, though had immediately let the tension go. She was scared, afraid, he couldn't be scared while she was, she needed someone to lean against. He hoped she hadn't felt him do that, he didn't want her to feel like she needed to stay away, though he couldn't help but grow a bitter redder in the face when she took a hold of his arm.
Every little noise echoed in the cavernous place, the cool air carrying sound with a whispered fluidity, and soon after Abigail told him that she heard noise, he could hear it as well. It was faint, and seemed to be farther up ahead, but definitely sounded human, one with a stuffy nose and red-rimmed eyes, their breathing and occasional sharp breaths thick and unsteady. Nico quickened his pace slightly, targeting in on the noises, which were slowly becoming louder the farther they progressed into the tunnel.
As the path sloped downward and they turned a corner, the two were suddenly in a much wider space. This must have been some sort of stop for the ancient train, a sheltered place to stock up on fuel. The tunnel's now widened state allowed for there to be a large platform next to the tracks, and multiple doors and rooms seemed to branch off into rooms or hallways, which must have been for the workers. The breathing, sobbing, was definitely coming from in here. The meister, although he tried, could only hear the singular child's breaths, there was no other presence of life from what he could detect. The child's soul was faint, no doubt practically starving and weak, it was a miracle that the kishin had kept them alive at all though. "Hey, is anyone here? We're here to help, if you want to come out" Nico called softly, his voice echoing around the large room. His pink eyes scanned the room carefully. There was definitely a soul in here, but the presence of it resonated around the room like sound did, making it hard to target.
