for fourteen year it's lain in wait.

from the very day the meteor struck that powerplant, events have been set into motion, and let me assure you, they certainly aren't good ones. as the gaiapage's sentience grew, it's awareness and intelligence expanded as well, until the being felt trapped in it's cave beneath the nuclear power. without a.. physical body, so to say, the beast could not make it's escape.

and so it waited. and waited.

strange happenings have been occurring in the town of perido beach, california for the last ten months. ordinary children are finding themselves developing extraordinary powers. powers that can injured. powers that can kill. despite this, many managed to act rather.. normally, with only a few exceptions telling their parents. needless to say, those who tattled were carted off. everyone managed to keep up the cold pretense of being 'normal'. but not anymore. everyone 15 and over have disappeared, welcome to the fallout alley youth zone.

[⇉] basic rules. Please heed the rules set down by nick and tess. i am merely a player, as we all are, and we have to be obliged to follow them. there's nothing more to say here than please use common sense. while this is a roleplay with 'powers', there are still some things that the characters can't quite accomplish. in addition, please do not powerplayer, godmod, or metagame. if your character has a power such as precognition, then i will pm them future 'events' ahead of time, they won't just know.

[⇉] literacy. while i wouldn't exactly class this as 'semi-lit', i will reenforce the rule of at least two lines per post. not sentences. lines. i would also prefer proper grammar; with commas, capitalizations where they're needed, and clear understanding of what you're writing! c:

[⇉] characters. these aren't too tricky. first off, you can only have ONE character with a 'power', given the fact that they are outnumbered in the series. while these powers are off your own choosing, read below for more info on them. i'm also going to ask that we keep genders relatively even, so it doesn't get out of hand with say, five boys, and twenty girls. that's just.. weird. in addition, please do not create a mary-sue/gary-stu. everyone has flaws, or a weakness that is holding them back. while this isn't the 'real' world, there is no reason our characters shouldn't have the same limitations. also, when creating your character, please add a backstory! putting 'ask them', 'doesn't want to tell', or 'they have amnesia' is not acceptable. however, if you want to create a character with purposeful amnesia then you can pm me your biography, and i will review it. the last thing to keep in mind when designing characters is that you can not use anime pictures. face claims are preferred, but not required. at oldest, your character can be 14.

[⇉] powers. one of your character is allowed to have a small power. if you are unsure of what to choose, feel free to pm me for suggestions. c: if you give your character a manipulation, he/she will not be accepted. or you can always enhance one physical trait, such as super speed, strength, etc. also, once a power is taken by someone, it can not be reused by another user. say someone already took 'incineration' which is the ability to destroy an entire object or person with extreme heat, then you can not take it as well. but don't worry, there's a surplus of powers in the wiki, lol. also, please apply at least one weakness to your power.

[⇉] power strength. in the book series, power 'strength' was measured by how 'high' it's level was. ones were the normals, characters with no power. twos were the most common, where some characters had the inkling of a power, but it had yet developed to a higher strength. threes were a little bit less common, but seen just as often, where a power would be able to function on a normal scale with little restraint. fours were incredibly rare, as their power was often incredible and powerful. i will only allow a limited number of fours[3-4], pm me if you wish to be one of them. to show you've read this far, please add an additional section to your character sheet and label it 'power level'. then add what level your character is.

[⇉] npcs. otherwise known as non-playable characters, npcs will factor a large part of the roleplay. for the most part, they will be controlled by me, allowing the characters to interact with them at a whim. users will have a limited control over their environment, as it will mainly be controlled by me or one of my mods.

[⇉] coates academy. no one will start off in coates academy. this is to prevent being 'split' early on, as it's a little distracting to be roleplaying in a few places at once. as the roleplay progresses, npcs from coates will come to perido, with an option to join them. you can make your decision then, c:

[⇉] book characters. you know sam, caine, diana, astrid, drake, and all of those other wonderful characters? well, they won't exist here. it's likely that there will be a few npc-lookalikes, but otherwise the characters should act as if they didn't exist. at no point in the roleplay will they show up. the only character who will be transferring from the book is the gaiapage, as the creature pays an important role in the series.

[⇉] activity. the key of a roleplay's success is balanced heavily on it's players being active. i will do my best to keep this roleplay alive, however it is required that you, as a person be active on it. if something comes up suddenly, that's fine -- pm me! i understand being grounded, after all, or going on a trip. however, if you are inactive for more than two weeks without replying to my pms, then your characters will be removed from the roleplay. i'm sorry. in addition, please do not go more than three pages without me, or my mod, mystic posting.

[⇉] other. i know this is a lot to digest, but i just love to type. any additional rules i've added after the roleplay agains will be highlighted in red. if you break a rule, you will get a warning. too many infractions, and it will become a ban.

power[optional] Flyrogenesis, otherwise known as force-field projection. His ability is to project powerful fields of manipulated energy for various uses. He is able to create a shield, wall or a field to protect himself[and others], with varying appearances and materials. The fields can be formed from energy, elements, shaped from environment or formed by manipulating smaller items to form greater whole. Force-fields are not impenetrable and can usually be removed by an energy drain or extreme weight. He is also able to throw shields away from himself and to catch things with them, in addition to being able mold them into almost any shape.
how long has it been since the power manifested?[optional] It's been about six months since he first noticed it. Rene has been keeping it on the down-low, and the only person who knows is his best friend, Rowan.

weaknesses It requires quite a bit of concentration for Rene to create, and hold a force-field at this time. While he's working on amping it up, he's only managed to do so in the slightest. It's almost impossible for him to multitask while holding up a shield. In addition, airtight barriers may cause asphyxiation from prolonged use.

biography Rene's generation hails from the ancestry of the town. Both his mother, and father grew up in the area, and met each other when studying biology at the local college. After a couple of years of dating, around five or so, Ren's father, Alexander, proposed to his mother, Brianna, in which she accepted. Not two years after that, Rene's oldest sister, Eloise was born. By the time Eloise was five, two more children quickly followed suit, with Rene being the middle child. Of all of his siblings, Rene is probably the closest with Eloise, as he always felt like he could confide in her, despite their age differences. For the most part, he tolerated his younger sibling, Danni, however his youngest sister tends to act like a brat as she enjoys attention. And even though this was Eloise's first year of college, the two remained in touch, and spoke frequently on the phone. Other events to note from Rene's childhood is that his father was involved in a hit and run accident when he was ten. While luckily, the man was not killed, he was badly hurt in the accident, and no longer has access to his right arm, as the nerves were too damaged to function.

This doesn't apply to people(if she tried to increase someones kinetic energy they would most likely turn into a wall painting, so she isn't even willing to try), and she mostly only uses it on little metallic ball's she carries around with her.
how long has it been since the power manifested? About seven month's, she doesn't really go around broadcasting about her ability, but she doesn't make an effort to keep it hidden either.
