Croach tilted his head to one side, indicating his confusion. He was not aware that "cats" were so jumpy. Mayhaps it was his odd appearance that prompted this reaction. Or it could've been that the cat was afraid of humans. "I meant no harm by my actions. I merely wished to feel your fur." Croach said as he went in the direction the cat went.

The girl almost gasped when she remembered he was from another worlds. But... They didn't selebrate birthdays there..? Okay, now that's just cruel. "You don't know what a birthday is? It's the day of the year you're born. It's like an anniversary of your birth date, which is the date of your birth... Y'know?" when a person didn't know what something was she would usually give them a straight forward dictionary definition, but maybe something like that would confuse Link so she just tried her best.

Croach reached cautiously out to touch the cat. He could not sense any hostility from the cat, just annoyance. The Martian continued to move his hand until it fell upon the cat's fur. Bah gropa, it was very soft. Maybe the tenth softest fur he had touched. "I am under small onus to you for letting me touch your fur." An onus was a responsibilty to repay an action. Martians take this responsibility very seriously.
