The dark blue water rose closer and closer, growing nearer by the second, until it was almost upon them. Then suddenly the water stopped, and began to fall back away. Megan gave a joyous yell, as she and her dragon dove at a breakneck speed, then pulled up at the last second and began to climb higher into the sky. "Nice run, bud!" Megan praised her deep purple Skrill.

Nightvolt calculated the fractions of a second they had until they plunged into the water. With less than a second remaining, he flared out his wings, swooping upward an just barely scraping the water with his tail. He gave a roar in response to Megan's yell, flapping his wings and climbing back into the sky with long powerful strokes. The pair burst back through the clouds, twirling and then evening out and gliding above the white pillows.

Erin held the knife steady, moving it slowly as she carved intricate details on her new bow. At last, she finished, and fitted the masterpiece with an obsidian colored string. She admired her handiwork, holding it up for a moment before loading an arrow. She drew back the strong and fired, knocking a squirrel out of a tree. Erin grinned, as her new weapon performed beautifully. She them randomly fired, for no apparent reason. Much to her surprise, the arrow struck something invisible. She heard a roar, and then a crash. How odd. Shrugging, Erin turned and briskly headed for the far edge of the island. She had a boat there, and planned to head back to her own town.

Skytide watched the girl and dragon leave. She had lost much of her appetite, but she couldn't let a good meal to to waste. She hurriedly ate the sheep, before taking off and flying towards the wooded and less inhabited area of Berk. Actually, it was one of the islands next to Berk that wasn't officially part of the civilization. She flipped onto her back, her wings rippling from black to sky blue as she flew over the forest. Suddenly, something sharp pierced her shoulder, causing her left wing to seize up. Down she plummeted, landing with a panicked roar and a crash on the forest floor.
