Kari glanced up warily as Derek approached her, lowering the menu a little. Of course he noticed her. He was a Werewolf after all, with every perk that came with it and more. Her eyes narrowed suspiciously when he told her she could go sit with him and she remained silent throughout the encounter. Watching him return back to his table, it took her a few long moments to decide on her approach. Then, standing slowly, she placed the menu back on the table and made her way over to them- sinking down onto the seating directly opposite Derek. "What exactly do you want to talk about?" She asked tiredly, too exhausted to even put an ounce of emotion into the words.

Derek returned to his seat unsure if Kari would even come over to the booth or not. Absently he began cutting at the rock of lamb so he could have smaller pieces to eat. As he took his first bite Kari had come to the booth. He focused on his food as he chewed in silence until Kari spoke. Hearing her voice he finally looked up at her his blue eyes showing the usual calm demeanor he wore. He gave her a slight glare when she asked what he wanted to talk about, as if it wasn't obvious. "The other night" he said simply.

Kari nodded lazily. "Oh. You mean the whole admittance of "I helped kill your family and stuff"?" She asked. "To be honest, I kinda forgot about that. I've had other stuff clogging up my mind for a bit." Then she shook her head and yawned. "Go on then. Shoot. Say what you want to say to me so we can all move on from this and live happily for never after."

Elias barely had time to nod at Derek's question before he had gone to Kari's table. Seeing there were not many customers in the pub he decided to accept the offer and sit down in the booth. When Derek came back, Kari not far behind him, Elias just stayed silent. He felt like he was kind of an intruder in a conversation that was kind of private. Instead he sat there still, once again plotting for how to be able go stay in Beacon Hills. Elias looked up again as some pretty harsh words slipped out of Kari's mouth, the guys whole family had actually died in that fire.

Despite her harsh words Derek kept his cool, focusing most of his attention towards his food. "Well I was going to say I forgive you and despite your little attitude I still do. It was your previous life and that's what you had been trained to do, just like I had my own life lessons with my family. Besides you're the one that has to live with it everyday just like I do. It can truly make your life a living...well you know the rest." He replied calmly. Remembering Elias was there he turned to the young man. "Elias you're more then welcome to stay or go. If you need me or a place to stay for awhile then just let me know" he said.

Kari's eyes widened in surprise as he told her that he forgave her and despite herself, she gave a small smile, though it never quite reached her eyes. "And here I was thinking that you'd blow up at me," she murmured, slouching in her chair a little more. "I really just couldn't have dealt with that today." Her lower lip trembled slightly and she bit down on it softly to stop it. "I'm sorry for what I just said. It was uncalled for but I'm tired and not really thinking straight."

Derek had to admit based on her earlier attitude he hadn't expected her to smile or even reveal her nicer side. "Like I said I know what living with that constant nagging of guilt feels like and that's punishment enough." He said nodding slightly. As he looked up at Kari once more he could see in her features that she hadn't had a good nights rest in a long time. He of all people would know what that looks like from the dark circles under your eyes to the bad attitude. "Well it sounds like you could use some rest then. That's all ice done since the other night" he replied

Kari gave a laugh that somewhat sounded like a mixture with a sob. "You think that'w why I haven't been sleeping?" She asked. "If it was then I would have seeked you out on the first day. No, I haven't been losing sleep over you. My own guilt isn't something worthy of destroying me..." She swallowed. "You remember when I crushed my phone? People were accusing me of killing my dad. Turns out he's dead. My mum's in the hospital and my brother is MIA. That's why I've been losing sleep."

"Believe me if I thought that were the case then I figure you would have been dead by now or killed yourself, so no I didn't think that was the issue" Derek replied rolling his eyes. It wasn't long after that he had finished his meal and pushed the empty plate to the side. "So are there any leads? Could your brother have been turned and attacked your parents from a lack of control? How did they find out that you were still alive?" he asked hammering her with a volley of questions.

Kari shook her head. "It looks like it an experienced alpha, from what I've read. They'd just arrived back here because they moved back to England after I 'died'. Somehow someone knew instantly that they were back, like they had some kind of vendetta against them. And I have no idea how the hunter who accused me got my number. It looks to me like one of the werewolves I entrusted it to is also dead."
