Tessa's birth parents had dropped her off at an orphanage in Manchester, England when she was 8, and in the orphanage she was picked on for being from a different country and sounding a bit different than them. Tessa had to learn to stick up for herself for a few years before being adopted by a really kind couple made of two woman named Allie and Mackenzie. They took in Kylee, a three year old child from Canada and a second sister to Tessa.

Tess had been home-schooled for a year because other kids was a fear of hers. In grade 9 she decided to test the waters of high school. Thankfully she was in the Neutral category; not a loner, popular or floater. She was never picked on, and had real friends. They didn't care about her glasses when Tessa needed them in Grade 10 and thought she looked cute with them on.

Kylee kept to home-schooling and loved to hear the stories of school from Tessa. When she turned 16, Tessa was able to get a cat, and of course, she got one. Tessa needed help choosing since all cats and kittens are cute and would adopt all if it was possible (Kylee joked about her becoming a cat lady.) She chose Gilbert, a 16 year old tortoiseshell she-cat who was a real cuddler .. well actually, Gilbert chose her. The cat had come right up and meowed for attention.
