.:Vendetta:.
Bitter tears gathered at the back of her mind, wanting to flood out. To be set free. But she had enough of this nonsense. Crying was weakness, it made you feel better but it doesn't change anything. Finally, she knew. She knew how Dane thought and how he handled his feelings. He was simply unpredictable. Everything was anger. Furious, flowing heat, rising higher and higher until the dam breaks and he explodes. That's what she did. Teased him to the point where he couldn't contain himself. It was like a bomb going off. She understood now. But couldn't he have handled it better?! It wasn't meant to be a bad thing... She cursed herself for being so oblivious to the signs. It was like hearing the smoke alarm during a fire but staying inside anyways. Warning signs. They were there, she just didn't see them. "How do you do it?!", she blurted, "How do you take so much hurt and act so carefree?! What the heck, Koffin, how does anyone do that?!" Broken ankle or not, she just wanted to run away, leave this grave she dug herself. Her mind kept flashing back to the day with Rosie's sketchbook. She could've sworn that she saw him blush. Whatever it was, it's not there anymore...
.:Jess:.
He stared at the pond's slick surface, the ripples caused by koi ducking in and out. He admired their flowing fins, the brightness of their eyes. They had nothing to worry about but food. Why couldn't life be that simple? No matter how much he hated to admit it, his heart felt empty. He felt like a ghost trapped in his own body. This wasn't him. This wasn't who he was. He's not the type of person to mope around, hold grudges. But that was exactly what he did. Maybe reality has caught up to me... He remembered the shock on Robert's face. He didn't show it, but he knew there was something stirring up in his mind. "Haha, who was I kidding?", he muttered bitterly, "I'm the freak. The standout. How would it have worked out any other way?" He kicked a rock into the pond, the fish scattering away in a frenzy. "Like he would've liked me back? What kind of fantasy was that? A hopeless one, that's what." He buried the issue in the back of his mind, wanting to forget it, wanting to move on. But he couldn't. He just couldn't. "I'm the one that left him, dang it!" But no matter how much he repeated it, it was never enough to change anything.
