Explain the Fandom: Okay, so this'll be a long read-I apologize to my poor fingers in advance.
Tales of Vesperia is set in another world-Terca Lumereis. This world is ruled by two authoritative structures-The Guilds, Altosk being the top guild, and the Imperial Knights. The world used to be run by corruption on the Knights side, and is now healing from the bad scars of cruel and power-hungry leaders. At least, that's how it is post-game. Pre game is the contrary of my previous statement.
Now, then. In this world there are mechanisms known as blastia, which are used in a range of ways-from lighting houses to creating barriers to protect towns. Each blastia has a core, and said core determines what its use is. For example, an aque blastia would be used for keeping clean water running in a fountain, and a barrier blastia keeps up just that-a barrier. Now, you may ask- why would one need barriers to keep towns safe? Well, the world is filled with monsters of all types. Small, large, vicious, gentle...you name it. And in order to keep defenseless civilians safe, barrier blastia are kept up.
Now, back to blastia. The final major type of blastia are Bodhi blastia-ones that individuals carry around themselves. These blastia-as well as /all/ blastia, mind you- take in a substance in the air called aer, and convert it into the necessary function the machine requires. Bodhi Blastia, though, turn aer into energy for fighting techniques called artes. Artes come in many types-Strike and Healing being the two major ones. However, spells can also be formed using Bodhi blastia with the assistance of the proper knowledge.
Finally, the time period. This world is set where there is no electricity, no cell phones, no guns- just good ol' swords, axes, bows, maces, spells-any kind of hand-held weapon. And instead of horses, people ride domesticated monsters known as Quietta. Have I said enough for it to make sense? c:
Explain the character: Okay, this one won't be much shorter, heh...
Yuri grew up an orphan in the Lower Quarter-the poorest level- of the capital city, Zaphias. Driven by his desire to change the government for the better, he joined the Imperial Knights at age 17 with his best friend Flynn Scifo-only to drop out three months later after the death of their brigade's captain and the factor of things moving much too slowly for his liking. From then he returned to his home in the Lower Quarter, and spent the next four years there- until he met a pink-haired girl while escaping prison. Now, prison, you may ask? Yuri is quite the troublemaker, yes, but he is never arrested for murder or anything of the sort. Instead, it's usually because of mockery of certain knights and other foolish yet harmless things.
Anyway, back on topic-after deciding to flee with the girl in order to reclaim the Lower Quarter's stolen aque blastia, Yuri involved himself in several major things--and made a few dark decisions that he still does not regret to this day, despite how his name has been soiled by them.
After traveling with his group of attained friends to two different cities run by corrupted magistrates, Yuri found that he'd had enough. Knowing that people were dying each day for the entertainment of these men was sickening, and he knew the only way to prevent it was doing the unspeakable. "The only cure for stupidity is death," he heard guild-member and ally Raven mention one night, and that was when Yuri made the decision- he was to kill these men, and secure the safety of the civilians still in grave danger.
Since my fingers are starting to hurt, I'll quickly conclude-
Yuri's group quickly found out about this and were displeased by his decision, but understood him; it was a last resort, as the government would do nothing about it despite the proof thrown in their faces. Lots of events happened, and suddenly Yuri had a huge responsibility thrust upon him-he was to defeat the being overtaking the once-beautiful Terca Lumerian sky, and essentially save the world in doing so.
Obviously, he succeeded, and....well, here we are.
;;ooooohhhh my goodness my fingers are /aching/
