Her eye twitched as he called her a kid. "And how old are you? 45? 53?" Ari started toward the door,but stopped herself. "If you're leaving,take Crane and Kayne with you. She really wants to go back into the city and my little brother misses being home. Our parents won' get so angry at him,so...could you take him to see them? Or at least to the see our house?....please?" She asked quietly without turning around.

Thaddeus sighed. She'd been working for Ari since she was six,and having to put up with Ari,or any bratty kid for that long could take a lot out of a person. She'd even started going by her middle name for awhile because the girl had made fun of her for her first name.

Knight shrugged a little. "I think I'm somewhere around ten thousand now, but I've been too lazy to keep track of my age. And as for your brother." He said, trailing off just a little bit, thinking about it and what it might mean for him. "Hmm. What's in it for me if I take that little chicken and Thad to your house? I won't do it for free to a person who tried to kill me, y'know." He said, smiling slyly.

Kayne was humming, swaying his head back and forth. It was a lullaby. The one his mother sang before she died. "Silver moon, Silver moon, shining down on me. Twinkling, shimmering, filling us with glee." He sang quietly, swaying in a rocking kind of motion. It always gave him a little piece of his mother to hold onto.

Ari's eye twitched slightly as he said that. 'Th-that's not possible...' She thought before she turned around. "I -I can pay you,If you want." The girl muttered. Her ice blue eyes narrowed. "And if you do take Kayne,make sure he doesn't get hurt,or there'll be a hole in your face to match the one on your stomach."

Thaddeus smiled down at him before she sat down on the ground and drew a few stars in flames around a burning moon. She sighed and leaned onto her back,extinguishing the flames as she closed her fist. "Do you miss your mother,Kayne?"

Knight smirked, narrowing his eyes. He was having fun with this, but he knew it had to end somewhere, and he wanted to win at all costs. "How much?" He asked simply, taking his hands from his pockets and crossing thm across his chest. Thank goodness that it was sunset too. This wound was bothering him.

Kayne nodded. "She was really nice. Ari was jut like her until about two years before Mom died... I miss her a lot." Kayne said lowly, frowning at his memories, but that was all he had left of his mom.

"Fifty." Ari said finally. She didn't want to pay him in the first place,but there was really nothing else she could offer him.

Thaddeus nodded and wrapped the boy in a one armed hug. "I miss my mom,too. She died when I was about your age,maybe younger. My dad wasn't there to take care of me,so I had to do it myself." She smiled down at the boy. "You're lucky though. You have Lance and Ari,who really loves you,even though she might not show it."

Knight thought about it for a little while before nodding slightly. "Alright then. I'll take him and Thad out tonight. You can come too if you want. I'm being paid so I won't let you guys get killed or anything." He said wih a cocky smirk, but a friendly tone with eyes to match.

"I know. Ari stopped playing with me though.. She only started playing with me a little while ago, but it seems weird now. I'm use to her being mean and rude." Kayne admitted with an awkward smile.

"I don't want to come." She said hastily. Ari folded her arms across her chest and ice raced up them. "Please do watch out for them. Especially Kayne. There are people in the city who aren't exactly on good terms with my father.Or Me."

Thaddeus shrugged. "At least she's paying attention to you." She started molding something with the flames in her hand.

Knight rolled his eyes. "C'mon. Do you want to stay here with a murderer rather than see your... darling brother's smiling face?" He said, nearly gagging on the words 'darling brother'. That wasn't a thing he was ever going to get use to saying. He hated his real family, and the only family he ever had was gone.

Kayne nodded, getting up and wrapping his arms around Thaddeus' neck, locking her into a hug. "You're like my big sister too though, so I don't mind!" He said happily, laughing cheerfully and rocking back and forth.

Ari gave him a flat look. "Yes." She turned and started climbing back up the stairs. "I don't want my Father to try an kill me because I'm a 'witch' "She said,using air quotes around the word witch."I'm going to take a nap."The girl turned down the hall and toward her room.

Thaddes laughed and wrapped him in a hug before picking him up and going to sit on the porch next to Mayia. The thing she'd been working on earlier with the fire was a lily,still burning in her hand,though it retained it's shape.

Knight rolled his eyes. He wasn't giving up just yet. He may not look it, but he was trying to protect Ari from Skye. He didn't like Skye one bit, now anyway, and he wasn't going to let anyone die while he was around, unless he was the one to do the killing. Without taking the precautionary jump, Knight vanished, appearing in Ari's room before she came in, just waiting for her to open the door while he leaned himself against the bed frame.

Mayia smiled at them when Thaddeus brought Kayne over. Hunter was wrapped around her with his tail on her lap and his head on the floor. That lazy silver wolf had fallen asleep. Here it was peaceful, but a little too quiet for some people. Kayne grinned and looked at the flower in Thaddeus' hand. "You're really good at that." He said with a bright smile.
