As Suneku sat in his 'cell' on the Marine ship, his thoughts drifted towards his past once more. Why hadn't he told his nakama the truth about him when he had the chance? They had the right to know. They trusted him just as he trusted them. They were like a family, albeit a dysfunctional one at times. And as his thoughts drifted towards his past, Suneku's closed as memories played through his mind.
He'd been young when he had been made a slave of the Tenryuubito, but he was every bit as defiant as a grown man would be. It had taken five men to hold him as they had placed their brand on his back, a permanent reminder of what he had once been. Of course, they'd started him off doing their menial chores, making sure to beat him if he made even one mistake. That had grown boring to them in time, and the World Noble that owned him had decided to purchase a devil fruit, one of the Hebi Hebi no Mi fruits to be exact. After that, they had found amusement in forcing Suneku to turn into a half-snake being and stand in the middle of a pool as they filled it with seawater. They'd found enjoyment in his agony as they forced him to stay there, feeling weaker then ever before. If Suneku tried to move out of the pool, the Tenryuubito would fire a warning shot to scare Suneku away from the edges. The cycle continued for days on end until He had showed up. That was the day Suneku met Elliot, and the snake-man had followed his captain ever since. His was loyalty to the man who had saved his life. And Suneku had repaid his captain in full by giving his own life in exchange for the safety of his nakama.
