Chel looks around, still amazed by the village. All her life, she lived in such a strict environment. To her, it seemed foolish to sacrifice for nothing. But that's where she lived, and though she left El Dorado, her heart panged to know that she left. But she finally did, and she left with Tulio. He was greedy, vain, awkward, but she loved him. She didn't expect to fall for him, she only used her seductive nature to lure the man, to let her in his plan. Chel knew better then her folk, she knew that Tulio and his partner were fake the moment she saw them. After all, she was only a thief. But now, she was free. And now, her people were safe.
Locking hands with Tulio, the two walk around the village. The sun streaked the village, and it was beautiful. As the two walked, Chel swayed her wide hips. She knew how to use her gifts, with years of practice of course. Near by, a fountain gleamed and shined. Chel motions Tulio to follow her, and the two sit near the fountain. She turns to Tulio, her full lips slightly in a smirk. "It's beautiful, isn't it?" Tulio nods, and Chel cocks her head. He was no charmer, but he wasn't usually this quiet. With her long pointer finger, she pokes his thin right arm. "Hey you, is something troubling you?" Her black bangs don't cover her eyebrows, which are up in concern. Tulio shrugs. "It's nothing to worry about-" Suddenly, he slips and Chel covers her mouth to hide her laugh. Tulio quickly gets up, and brushes his shoulder with his hands.
Now she sat, her legs crossed and her hands on the rock fountain. Chel follows Tulio's gaze. He was looking at the trees nearby, that look as if they'd rustle. She places her round head on his shoulder. "Tulio, you worry too much." Chel could sense him smirking, but it quickly went away. He remembered the conversation back in El Dorado about him worrying too much, but they just can't stay here too long. It seemed that anything could happen at any second. Tulio stands up, still looking at the trees in suspicion. Soon enough, Chel stands beside him. Her brown eyes shine, and she places her hands at her hips. "Oh Tulio, let's go-" Tulio would never know what Chel wanted to say to him.
Pirates erupted into the village, destroying everything in sight. Tulio quickly grabbed the first thing he saw; a pipe. He turns to Chel. "Run!" But Chel stands beside his side stubbornly, unmoving. He makes movements with his hands to make her leave. "Go now!" Instead, she picks up a rock, shaped like a sword. Tulio smacks his forehead. "Chel, are you kidding me? Run already!" She shakes her head. "Not if I can help it!" A pirate comes up to them. He smirks, revealing rotting yellow teeth and his sliver sword glints in the sunlight. The pirate raises his hand that holds the sword, but Tulio strikes his forehead with the pipe. Ready to protect Chel, he turns to the native girl, only to find her fighting with a pirate as well. By now, screams were shouted and people called for help. Chel smacks the pirate with the rock, and turns to Tulio, panting. Both knew clearly that there were much more pirates to defeat. Without a word, Chel runs to a little boy, his eyes wet with tears. Tulio runs to her, furious. "Chel, there's no time!" But Chel puts her arms around the boy, and picks him up. The boy looks up at Chel and smiles. Chel gives him a small smile, and nods to Tulio.
In the nod Chel gave Tulio, she suddenly falls, taking the boy with her. Tulio holds the pipe more tightly, ready to strike the pirate that made Chel fall. The pirate was small, with one gold hoop in an ear. He narrows his blue eyes in focus. Then, his vision goes black.
Right away, when Tulio woke up, he knew where he was. "Maldición," he muttered under his breath. Damn it. The salty smell of the sea burned his nose. He looked around, looking for Miguel or Chel. He doesn't see any of them, only unidentifial villagers. With a grunt, he looks up to see a tall man with a blood-red beard. His black eyes surveyed them, each and every one of them. His coal black eyes seemed cold. But something about the man made the thought stop. His bones shivered, and he knew why; the man was looking at him. The man smiled, which created crinkles at his eyes, making them shine and...kind? How was this man kind at all? He just destroyed a village! Grunts and moans filled the room, many must be thirsty or hungry. But Tulio looks at the man, determined to trick him of getting him out of his chains. But before he could, the man talks.
"Well, why isn't it the conman? I remember you." His French accent sounded so familiar. Tulio realized it, he tricked this man with Miguel. He was a kind, French man. Miguel and him had no food, and they needed to gamble quickly. A man with a bright smile that made women swoon, eyes that shined. A kind man, someone many respected. But he was only passing through Spain at the time. When Miguel and him offered to gamble, he surprisingly didn't reject. With their loaded dice, they easily won. But when it was known that the French man was defeated, he gave them a knowing smile. He knew that he would lose, yet he gambled with them anyways. It stumbled Miguel and him, why did he do it then? The man didn't give a name, but with a contrast like his, he's unforgettable. But now, he stood before him.
