Selene frowned and then looked back over her shoulder, her gaze landing squarely on Ford. She whimpered softly and then hesitantly turned away from him, wishing that he stay asleep for a while. Selene stood up, her wounded paw pressed up tightly to her body, and then limped out of the cave. She sniffed at the air and then walked towards the smell of fresh water, knowing that a stream was close by. Selene slowed to a stop and then sniffed at the air again, having noticed a faint but familiar scent. She sighed and then sat down in the grass, finding that she couldn't stand without nearly losing her balance. Selene, still trying to figure out the new scent, yawned widely and then inhaled a deep breath of air. The loud sound of stirring sounded behind her, coming from a thick patch of bushes. Selene leaped up and twirled around, staring off in the direction where the sound had come from. She growled loudly, her hackles raised up high and her muzzle curled up into a fierce snarl. Selene narrowed her eyes at the darkness and then took a cautious step forward, curious about what was behind the bush.
Suddenly, the sound of a gun firing rippled through the air and a large dart flew out of the bushes. Selene gasped and then surrounded herself in the darkness of the forest, bending the shadows so that she was hidden. But it was too late, the bullet had already been fired. The large dart flew into Selene's left shoulder, knocking her backwards with an unbelievable force. Selene yelped, and the shadows left her body, and then winced in pain. She shifted to her human form and then blindly grabbed at the dart, which was sticking straight out of her shoulder. Selene wrapped her fingers around the dart and then, with one good yank, riped it out of her body. She let out a loud scream of pain and then she curled up into a ball, bracing herself for another attack.
Suddenly, Selene felt very tired, but she fought back the feeling of drowsiness. She moaned softly and then her ears pressed back against her head, the pain overwhelming the girl. Selene's eyes slid halfway shut and her heart rate began to slow, the dart having inserted a drug into her blood stream. A drug that was powerful enough to leave a grown grizzly bear unconscious for three hours. A blood chilling chuckle echoed from behind the bush, and then slowly the man who had shot Selene stood up. Selene stared at him, her eyes narrow with hatred, knowing at once that he was a human. The man was tall, he had spiky dark brown hair and a thin layer of stubble covered his face. Selene winced and then threw her head back and stared up at the sky. The man smiled slyly and then slung his large gun over his shoulder, thinking that he was the best hunter in the whole world. The man slowly and casually strolled over to Selene, and then crouched down beside the girl.
Selene whimpered and then turned her head and stared at the man, pissed to the extreme. She growled loudly and then her finally closed, the drug having a powerful grip around the girl. The man smiled and then scooped Selene up into his arms, knowing that she wasn't what he was looking for, but he was satisfied with his catch. Selene strained to hear anything around her, but she was unable to hear what was happening.
"Ford..." she whispered under her breath, slowly losing consciousness. "Help me..." Selene finished and then fainted in the hunter's arms.
