With a small chuckle, Kai said, "It seems as if you've been working your heart out,
Ella. Perhaps you should wake up a bit later than the rest of us in the morning.
We can always save you some breakfast!" He slowly slid his coat back and unfolded
it to shrug the sleeves on. "You can come sit with us, if you'd like. Though, the table
seems to be filling up very quickly. I'll save you a seat." With one last tug at his collar,
he crossed his arms loosely and gave a small smile to the girl in front of him.
"Feel free to come over whenever you'd like!" Kai called out as he headed back towards
his breakfast with a wave goodbye.
Plopping down onto his seat, Kai pulled his oatmeal back towards himself, and quickly
swallowed up the remaining spoonful of the now cold slop. The cadet peeled open the
bottom end of his banana, reminiscing what he had learned from a book on fruits
several years ago. Peeling from the bottom-up supposedly sweetens the taste of a
banana, though many theorize that it is merely the thought that causes one to think of
the fruit to be sweeter. The others at the table did not cease their discussion on the
morning birds, and Kai attempted to give his best attention to what they had been saying.
There had even been a couple newcomers to the group, though he did not recognize either
one of them very well. He ruffled his hair, deep in thought, as he felt as if he had seen
the petite girl that had just sat down from somewhere in the past. Perhaps they had once
been trainees together, but he did not recall dueling her in any way, shape, or form. As his
own thoughts ran through his mind, he couldn't help but start itching to return the thickly
bound book that lay unfinished beside his arm. Seeing that he had finished his banana, he
drained his glass of milk with a small aah.. to top off the refreshing end of his breakfast.

Rika scrambled through the doorway of the dining hall, skidding to a
halt just beside the breakfast trays. Did I make it? Did I make it? Her
stomach roared and clawed at her, demanding food instantly. There's still
some apples left! YES! Rika leapt to the barrel of apples, stuffing her coat
pockets with the bright red fruits. She didn't even bother grabbing a tray for
her food in the midst of her excitement. The young soldier proudly pranced
over to the table beside the crowd of others, nearly all seeming older and
holding more seniority than herself. She slinked her arm into her pocket and
took a large bite out of an apple, the juices splattering onto her cheeks. It only
took several more bites until she had reached the core of the apple, and Rika
plucked the small black seeds out delightedly. "Yet
another apple seed. It's a shame that I don't have the authority to ask to plant
this seed." She rummaged through her white legging
pockets to scoop out a poppy seed. "Someday, I'll own
my own garden, when the titans are defeated. I'll plant this poppy seed, and
from the flowers, grow tons more poppies, and eventually, grow a field of them!
It'll be like a red and orange cloud outside my door," she whispered very
softly to herself.
