I'm blown back by the impact of the punch, falling onto the sidewalk. I gingerly touch my eye and cringe slightly. But, instead of retaliating, like I would have preferred, I simply stand up and brush myself off, " At least you're up. " I say as I look up at her with a smile, my left eye forced shut. " Head inside now, please. I understand that you don't like me, but please. " I say softly.
