The core coldly said "I-" the buzzing noise came back and the light was white again "Sorry for the mishap. " Ribbit said before releasing herself from the rail manager "Come on, let's get the show on the road!"

Portalis flinched as Ribbit disconnected from the rail overhead, and jumped a mile as the panels to the left whirred and clicked open and a screen pushed out and sparked to life. An AI flickered onto the old monitor ((going along with the theme that AIaDOS has been off for a while (I read the first 12 pages :3))). Her wings uncurled a fraction on instinct, and she crouched as if ready to run. She had a feeling it would recognize her as a test subject, and she might need every head-start and advantage she could get. But there was another problem here. Ribbit was on the ground, and, though Portalis really wasn't on speaking terms with the employees here, Ribbit was a core and couldn't move on her own, and Portalis couldn't just leave her there, but with the added burden she might get caught. Well, if it came down to running, she would pick up Ribbit on her way past, and try to find a wide open area. If she could, it might make them harder to catch.
((Aren't cores about 30 lbs? I remember in Blue Sky "Congratulations. You've managed to turn a 30 pound tumor into a 180 pound tumor with legs."))
