Logan Thails

Where is everyone going? What's happening? Logan thought to himself, stepping to the side of the overcrowding halls, so as not to be swept away by the massing students all trying to move in different directions. Logan searched the crowd for a face he knew, even though he had barely any friends in the school he still had his acquaintances. One of whom he knew was located in the North Wing of the building- the current one being flooded by students. The halls were instantly filled with shouting and loud voices. Among them he could hear the worried voices gossiping:
"Have you heard..."
"It's back..."
"..... the FAYZ."
The last voice he heard sent chills all the way through his bones, only to be warded off by his logical thinking. That would be impossible. He- he was destroyed. Logan cleared his mind, not even his thoughts having the same certainty and confidence he usually had. "Hey! Ember," Logan called, quickly pulling the red head by the shoulders beside him. Logan knew Ember from the gym class they shared during one of their hours. "Hey, what the heck is going on?"

fear shot through ember as Logan grabbed her "i-i..." she said thinking Logan saw her claw, until she realise he was asking her what had happened "i don’t know exactly, i think its the FAYZ" she said shakily, "like when some people parents told them about when everyone over fifteen disappeared, a-and some people g-got p-powers" she said. "what do you think we should do?" ember asked Logan

Logan Thails

Logan was caught strongly off guard by Ember's last question. No one had ever asked his opinion for anything- besides his sister. Logan feared it showed on his face, but honestly had no idea how to answer her question, and with her reply combined Logan turned paler than he already was. "Did you say the FAYZ?" The look on Ember's face confirmed his question. Logan shook his head from side to side, repeating in his mind. Impossible! Impossible! There's no way... Logan rubbed his temples, trying up to come up with explanations, but only hundreds of dead-ends. Logan had read the horror stories of the FAYZ, especially the book written by Astrid Temple. Okay. Okay. That's not going to happen again. We know our mistakes and can improve, right? Logan tried calming himself, neglecting to further answer Ember's question. After a few moments Logan said slowly, silently, as if he were saying a secret meant for no one else to hear, but he wanted to be understood clearly. "We have choices: A. We can stay here and pray that this is some sort of magic trick- a prank. B. I don't know what B is but I have a feeling we'll find out later." Logan's eyes scanned the crowd before returning his gaze upon Ember. "Or C. I'm going up there to Coates and getting my sister. If it's anything like the last time this happened then..." Logan didn't know what then.
"But I'm sticking with C."

Ember nodded at Logan "I don't know what I could do here so could I come with you?" She said looking up at Logan, then ember remembered that she needed to act normal so she would arouse suspicions and cause people to think something was wrong. Ember straightened up and tried to act strong, her fearful look hardened.

When lily walked into the corridor people turned to look at her she heard a few gasps and most people had expressions of fear or amazement. She walked outside and stretched out her wings let's see what they can do she thought giving them a few feeble flaps, not very confident that it would work. Lily stretched them out to full length and looked back her her wings, she noticed slight pink tinges in the center making her think of the pigeons who lived here's wings. She started to flap them and she continued until she felt her feet start to leave the ground. She rose up into the air and smiled as she looked down to the beach with its tumbling waves.

Logan Thails

Logan honestly didn't want anyone to come along with him on his trip to Coates Academy, but he found it hard to completely say no to Ember, who appeared to be getting her spark back from her earlier hollow tone. And when that spark ignited it was unwise to offend her, so he tried to somehow deflect the question. "Uh... You don't have any friends that would miss you or something?" Logan questioned, an accidental edge entering his voice. Logan just hoped she hadn't noticed as he awaited the red head's response.

Ember was taken aback by his response, she had never been a people person and didn't get along easily with people because of her sharp tongue. So normally she spent her time studying in the schools library, so when Logan asked her she stared at her feet and shook her head, embarrassed. "Well, no I don't" she replied.

Lily soared in the sky and decided to see how high she could get, she flew upwards until she hit something, she screamed out of pain and suprise. Her wing had hit it and some of the feathers had been singed and damaged, from her surprise her rhythmic flapping had stopped and she plummeted towards the ground. She desperately flapped her wing until she managed to stop her falling and continue flying about twenty meters from the ground.

Logan Thails

Logan clenched his jaws, not believing what he was going to say. After all, Logan couldn't just leave her feeling so alone and helpless. He let out a small sigh before replying. "Yeah. Sure I guess you can come along," he responded turning towards the door. There was a large commotion happening outside with people pointing towards the sky and turning to each other with awestruck faces. "Okay Ember, I think we should probably leave. Now," a sense of urgency embedded into his tone. "That way," he said nodding into the opposite direction.
"We're going through the back."

Ember looked up at the sky and saw a figure soaring in the sky with very wings "lily.." She muttered, remembering her because she was the one person she hadn't managed to offend or make enemies with, so I'm not the only person she thought. When Logansuggested going out the back she nodded, not feeling like going past all those people while she had to hide her powers.

Lily saw people looking up at her, starting to feeling nervous and self conscious she flew towards her house, a small building made of red brick, it had fiverooms her parents bedroom, the kitchen, her and her brothers shared bedroom, the bathroom and a small room with a couch and a TV. She landed on their lawn and folded up her wings, she opened the unlocked door and walked inside

"Hmm? Did you say something?" Logan asked, peering at the back of Ember's head as they began walking against the current of students going through the main entrance. He followed her gaze to the glass ceiling above, seeing nothing in the blue, slightly cloudy skies of Perdido Beach.

Ember looked up again to see lily had gone "no, I didnt" she said when she realized lily wasn't there. She continued following Logan out the back and they came out, and started heading along to road towards Coates academy. "How did your sister end up in Coates?" Ember asked, curious on what she had done.

Lily walked inside her house, with no one here her once lively house felt dull and empty, she walked down the hallway and walked into her room, it was just as she had left it.
