Cedric straightened the wrinkles on his suit, he was getting read to go to the Yule ball. He took a deep breath and walked out of the Hufflepuff common room and walked towards the great hall where the ball would be taking place. H walked through the large steel doors and down the stairs then stopped abruptly, why am i even here? he asked himself, its not like i asked anyone.. He decided to just get a drink of pumpkin juice then sit down and make fun of the stupid lovey dovey couples that waltzed across the dance floor.

Hermione felt flustered, she saw Draco look away nervously "Im sorry, I didn't mean to say that I just- well- you've really changed, and i like it" she said very quickly.

She entered the hall, lightly huffing in annoyance as a girl bumped into her. She sighed heavily, her eyes flying from one side to the other as she approached the table that held the drinks. She picked up a butter beer taking a sip from it before leaning against the table. Her expression was colder then stone, no one who she knew getting in the ways of her vision.

"I um.. I don't even know what happened to me." He ran a hand through his hair and gulped slightly. "I have a question.." He inhaled deeply. "Well, will you come to Hogsmeade with me next time we go?" He said, putting it in a form of a question for a date and his voice also telling that he wanted a date with her. "Also if you feel well enough we can go to the Yule Ball I suppose." He blurted out and bit his lip right away, thinking about what his father would say now. A dash of a cold feeling ran through his expression but he shook it away.

Cedric gulped down his pumpkin juice and put the glass down, he sighed and turned to leave and spotted Lynx all on her own. He walked up to her and smiled "did your date not show up?" he mocked.

Hermione first nodded, then giggled "I would love to!" she said. Then she hesitated, what would Harry and Ron think? and what would draco's parents think? "Its just, i cant, i promised my friends i'd go with them to Hogsmeade, and well the yule ball, i wasnt planning on going at all" she lied, its not that she didnt want to. "im sorry" she whispered and looked down at her hands.

Lynx snapped out of her thoughts, looking at him, a smile climbing up on her face. "Oh hey." She said, "He called in sick. Just kidding, don't have a date. You? Where's your date? I'd expect her glued to you right about, now." She took a sip of her drink, her eyes glued on him. The man was fine and she could not lie.

Draco looked at her confused, his expression turning cold as he looked away for a second. He then turned back, his eyes colder then ice. He looked at his watch and then at her, slowly speaking. "Oh, would you look at the time, I have some things to do and it seems you do too. Sorry for bothering you, I'll just stay away." He stood up and walked out not saying a single word, cursing at himself for being so open to her 'and letting her get to him. He promised himself he'd not make this mistake ever again.

'My date?' Cedric asked himself. 'She's standing right in front of me' He replied as a matter-of-fact. 'Will you give me the pleasure of dancing with you?' He asked after a moments pause extending his hand out to Lynx.

As Hermione watched him leave, she immediately felt guilty, she sighed and lay back down on her bed in the hospital wing and tried to fall asleep. When it was alright for her to leave she checked her timetable. "transfiguration" she said to herself. "with the Slytherins" she added. Not that she minded anymore, after all thats happened in the past year, she just didn't want to run into him. Hermione made her way to class and saw that she was a minute late, she rushed to class and walked quietly through the door, to her relief Professor McGonagall wasn't there yet, but everyone else was already seated, and there was only one seat left.

She looked at him surprised, blinking, very touched. She replied, her voice shaking. "Oh um, sure." She whispered, her cheeks becoming red as she took his hand. Her eyes twinkled as they met his, the music getting under her skin and butterflies appearing in her stomach.

Draco ran to the classroom, sitting down in the corner of the room. A few more people came in, no one sitting next to him. He smiled, glad that for once he'd be alone. He leaned back on the wall, his eyes briefly flying over the classroom as he spotted the door open and saw Hermione, darkness veiling over his vision as he saw that the only free spot was next to him.

As soon as Lynx took his hand he spun her around the dance floor non-stop. The song ended a few seconds after and turned into a slow waltz, Cedric smiled and placed his hand on her waist and slowly began to dance.

The only free spot was next to the one and only Draco Malfoy, what had she gotten herself into? she thought. She had no choice but to walk over and sit down beside him, pushing her chair to the other end of the table.

A smile played on her face as she put her hand on his shoulder, her eyes locking to his as she let the music crawl under her skin. Not much seemed important at that point, the light casting a very nice shadow, as they moved. She was speechless, what was supposed to be a night like any other turned out to be quite nice and enjoyable.

He cursed under his breath, looking away for a brief second before flashing her the deadliest look as she sat down next to him. He continued to mumble something under his breath as he opened the book and acted like he was reading something from it. He usually didn't read out of class, but now seemed to be the right moment to drink up some knowledge.

Cedric smiled softly as he stared into her eyes, for just one small moment, he felt something as he watched her, he didn't know what it was but he liked it. When the music stopped he scooped Lynx up, spun her around then neatly dropped her back onto the floor.

Hermione continued to sit beside him as normally as she could, she was growing very intense as the seconds ticked by, she looked at the time, 17:04. Draco was trying so hard not to notice her he was actually reading a book. Hermione felt quite hurt, even though it was entirely her fault. She could not take it any longer, she ripped a piece off her parchment and scribbled a small note,placed it on his side of the table, stood up and left the class without excusing herself. "6 o'clock, fourth floor, second turn to the right, down the hall, door on the left. Please, H.J.G
