You lusus was still making that horrible racket from downstairs. It was getting outrageously loud now, and you couldn't stand it anymore. You add your net to your strife specibus again, and picking up your clamshell phone in case someone tried to contact you out there, you hop out the door and ride the slide down to the ice below. You can tell something is going on, because the floor is wetter than usual. You sprint towards the large pool where your lusus dwells to see what she thought she was playing at. To your horror, the water was a bright violet colour. Desperate and afraid, you pull out your net and dive into the pool to look for her. You were sure this wasn't what it looked like, and there just happened to be another violet blooded creature around which was just killed. Nope. NOPE. There was your lusus, flailing helplessly and bleeding heavily. You thought you were going to be sick. She was on the verge of dying- she must have gotten into a fight with a stronger animal- and lost, clearly. There wasn't anything you could do. No way were you a strong enough swimmer to bring her to land, and even then, what could you do? You swim to her and stay with her for her dying moments, before surfacing again. You weren't sure whether you were crying or if it was her blood. It didn't matter either way. You get out your phone again to contact rixtie.

You removed your cape and carefully placed it over your lusus. You weren't sure if you could look at her again. It all happened pretty fast and mourning wasn't something you were wanting to do at that moment.

MP: I didn't wait this long for it just so we could sulk around while playing it.

Your burnt hands had ceased shaking and your cursed purple eyes halted streaming. You squeezed your eyes shut before they flew open from Nahvra pestering you. Despite the seadweller telling you not to, you take a peek at the rockpool.

MP: They're all dying.

You rub your tears away angrily. You couldn't be seen crying, you were a strong seadweller damn it. This sort of thing wasn't meant to affect you. You were meant to be strong and stoic and cold and emotionless. You get to your feet shakily and flip open your phone. Rixtie had messaged you. What did she mean "they all were"?

You felt another bubble of tears rise to the surface. It was your fault she died, and you knew it. If you'd went down to check on her the first time, you could have fought off the attacker, or done SOMETHING, instead of just prattling on to a bunch of losers on the internet. You couldn't cry though, not in front of Rixtie. What would she think if she saw you crying? She would laugh, definitely, and you know she'd think of you as less of a troll. Besides, you were too old for your lusus now anyway. It was time to let her go. Pulling your hood up over your face, you trudge back inside. You still had this game to play- even if you really didnt feel like it now, you couldn't drop out on everyone like this. You decaptchalouge your manual and flip through to find what the cruxtruder does.

You slam your phone closed like a dramatic teen movie from the early 2000s and storm out the door. You dont care about touching a dead thing, that's what trolls do, right? And you'd never be a proper seadweller if you were all worked up and squeamish. You run up the stairs to the large pool where your lusus lives- used to live, and dive in dramatically. You hope Rixtie was watching that. It was a pretty good dive, and you hoped it showed just how unaffected you were. You kick your legs furiously and arrive at the bottom of the pool. You couldn't very well take all of her up to the surface with you, she was at least 15 feet. Maybe you could just prototype a small bit, like a claw? That would do. Taking out your razornet, you slice off a claw- utterly feeble and useless in defence against a bigger creature- and swim back to the surface. You walk back inside your hive, dripping all over the floor.
