Did he think you meant mate as in MATESPRIT? Unbelievable! You only meant it as in a ship's mate- as a sea dweller, it was basically law for you to make boat references occasionally.
You make a mental note to remember this guy if you were ever feeling particularly melancholy- his awkward ramblings would be sure to pick you up. You consider messaging him back to mess with him a little, but decide against it. You have bigger prawns to barbecue, or something along those lines.
Like this mentalist right here, who didnt think they were a troll. What even was that about? They were clearly dropped on their head as a wriggler or something- nobody was that clueless. Although you feel like a bit of a chump for going along with her delusional ramblings, you decide to humour her for a little longer- she clearly didnt have much troll interaction, if any at all in her whole life.
