Markus nodded once before sighing and looking down. He had been hoping that question wouldn't come up.
"Honestly, I don't know. The way my father treated me, he pretty much told me that all I was good for was to start a family. Maybe But I don't just want to start a family; I mean, it'd be nice and all but I want to do something with my life. Although, I have absolutely no idea what I want to do," he said with sheepish smile and a shrug.

[Cloudsong]

Maya nodded slowly. "It would be nice to start a family.... but I don't like the concept of only doing that in life." She twisted a lock of hair around in her fingers, looking thoughtful. "You mean, you haven't thought about it at all?" Being in such a boring town, that was all Maya could think about; the future of leaving.

Markus shrugged.
"Of course I've thought about it. But I just don't know what I want to be; there are too many choices," he said with sigh. He looked up at the sky as they walked, his brow furrowed slightly as he thought.

Maya nodded, looking around. "But most of those require having an education," she murmured, half to herself. "Markus, when-" She cut off, and hesitated before correcting herself; "if we get out of this mess... will you go back to school?"

Markus looked down at the slightly sparkling snow as he walked through it. "Why should I?" He asked with a stubborn tone.

"Because if you don't, you won't be able to do any of those things." Maya's voice was slightly stronger; she cared about Markus, despite their fights before. She wanted him to have a good future.

Markus groaned. "If I say yes, can we drop the subject?" He asked, glancing over her. He really didn't want to go to school, but if it made Maya shut up momentarily, he'd do it.

Maya shrugged. "Saying yes isn't the same as doing it, Markus." Her voice was muffled slightly. She turned away. "Sorry, am I talking too much? I do that sometimes... Just tell me when you want me to shut up."

Markus glanced back at her before sighing and shaking his head. "I promise, all right?" He said in a soft tone. "And no, it's okay. I'm getting used to it, already," he said with a soft laugh.

"All right," Maya replied, kicking at a ball of ice in front of her. She winced slightly as it gave her a slight pain in the foot. "You are? Most people don't bother... you've no choice, though." She smiled slightly. Maya opened her mouth to say something, but it was cut off by a sneeze.
