[Lady Mekka]

Victoria reached the base of the stairs just as the two reached the top. She cursed under her breath, remembering that she had left her bedroom door open. She tried to move faster, but she was going the same infuriatingly slow pace. She needed to work on that...

Ana saw the open bedroom door, but she also saw another set of stairs. She opted to move up another floor as she started to wheeze.

Jared's eyes were fierce, and he grasped Ana's arm, slowing her down. "I can carry you?" He half asked, half demanded. As if to prove it, he buckled his knees slightly and outstretched his arms.

Riley was once again the silent observer. Swimming easily through the air, he watched.

Ana felt bad for making Jared carry her added weight, but she nodded, throwing one of her arms around his shoulder.

Victoria made it to the top of the stairs, sighing as she saw that the kids had moved to the other stairs, half in anger, half in relief.

Jared hitched her up in his arms, beginning the same run as before. He took the flight of stairs carefully, but with speed. His footsteps pounded loudly.

Riley moved forwards noiselessly, watching the hazy figure as it sighed. His focus was no longer trained on the humans, but on this apparition that he had been co-existing with for so long.

Ana held tight, trying to regulate her breathing. In. Out. In. Out. Her chest heaved, and she didn't feel like she was getting much oxygen, but she kept her cool, knowing that if she paniced, she would have a harder time breathing. It's really a vicious cycle, panic because you can't breath, have a harder time breathing because of the panic, panic even more...

Victoria felt the eyes of the shrouded figure watching her, so she turned her head to look at it.
"Who are you?" she asked finally, truly curious.

Jared slowed slightly, trembling. He stared at Ana. "You okay, girl?" He mumbled, suddenly somewhat afraid.

Riley hissed in a breath as she spoke. Certain she was adressing him, he changed into his wolf form- it was easier to communicate that way. His muzzle twitched in cautious sensitivity, and eventually he spoke. "I am Riley Debuche. I have watched you many times yet never inquired. So who exactly are you?" He asked, the slightest of emphasis on the 'you'.

"Riley?" Victoria said, nearly collapsing as the shroud started to clear and she could make the vague outline of the wolf. "It's Victoria. Victoria Viviaci."

Ana nodded, her breathing coming easier with each breath.
"How are we going to escape?" she asked, looking around. They were in a room, with a shuttered window.

Jared turned his gaze around. "I...I don't know." He groaned, pounding a fist on the wall and frowning in dismay as he found it to be solid.

It was a good thing Riley had no need for breathing, because he might just have died again at her words. "No." His voice was disbelieving, stunned to a point he sounded somewhat cold. "No, you can't be her..." He gave a soft whimper as memories flooded into his mind like a dam had broken.

"I'm not lieing. I'm truly Victoria." she said, kneeling to look at the wolf face to face. "What happened to you?" She took her hands to cup the sides of the wolf's face.

"Do you... find it weird... that they haven't followed us in here?" Ana said between deep breaths. She was watching the stairs, wondering when they'd come bursting in.

Jared nodded, seeing the wisdom in her statement. "Good point..." His voice came stronger now, and he turned to face her. "Should we look?"

Riley whined softly as Victoria bent closer to him. He could see her almost clearly now, and his eyes flickered; she really was here. "I died..." He mumbled weakly, nosing her hand gently. Her touch felt almost the same, and he closed his eyes, relishing in it.
