His eyes gave a lethargic last sweep of the room, scanning each and every silhouetted object in the darkened space along with any corners that someone could be lurking in. It was a habitual kind of thing. A sort of bedtime ritual if you would. They hadn't trained him for so many years without result, and though being attacked at all hours of the night as part of said training had resulted in a deeply rooted paranoia, it had saved his life many times. Carisa didn't seem to share that particular trait. In fact, he doubted her energy reserves were large enough for her to continue on like this much longer, hence the reason she hadn't been released for any real missions yet. She would be required to be up for days on end, or in his case, run for days as was necessary when tracking a target. Maybe introducing her to the flock would be what she needed. They could help with her stamina, and then she'd be able to travel with him, go with him on missions, and maybe even a hurt or two, oh and they could- but he would be gone long before that could happen. And he hadn't been planning to take the girl with him for numerous reasons, reason one being that he wasn't sure how well she could take care of herself.
He was already a bit of a free spirit, liking to have a pack but still have the option of full independence, especially in a fight. And from what he could tell, most of the flock preferred to fight on their own, though they did retain a sort of synchronization that almost seemed to have been written into their DNA. But that was of little importance, he would have to take Carisa. How could he bare to leave her? Those sleepy little eyes were filled with a sort of trust he'd never experienced before, a sort of platonic love that he'd been needlessly deprived of. She was almost a necessity now, he needed her just as she needed him. Maybe that sounded a bit more intimate than need be, but there was just no other way to describe the bond they'd formed over the course of a few hours. He heard more than anything, the rustle of cotton sheets and obsidian silk and was immediately drawn to the source only to find that Carisa was now nestled under the covers. A single silvery white brow quirked upwards in response, a crooked smile replacing the grim line his lips had been set into. "I should have figured you wouldn't know of him, he was a pretty well kept secret until a few days ago. Leave it to Jinx to turn an entire facility upside down over the course of twenty-four hours." He shook his head, thoughts only lingering on the more feminine version of himself before he regained focus.
"And I'm not full of myself pup, to deny an undisputable truth is silly don't you think? You've been surrounded by a bunch of cocky losers up until now, do not get me confused with one of those filthy lapdogs." The gentle rumble lacing his words had been completely unintentional, his growls were so driven by instinct that he hardly noticed them anymore. Hopefully Carisa wouldn't react negatively to his...wolfishness. "It'll be another six months before you start producing enough body heat to truly combat the cooler temperatures, I am a variant of the original strand of Erasers and so as a quirk, I happen to produce a surplus of heat. We can discuss that kind of stuff later though, so just try and get some sleep, 'kay?" He doubted the possibility of her sleeping anywhere other than his bed tonight, and though he was rather fickle when it came to sharing things, when it was Carisa he found himself to be a bit more willing than usual. A bit softer of heart. She was going to be a weakness in the same sense that Jinx was, something that just sort of, well, happened. But she was just another someone to protect, and those who had someone they cared for to protect, tended to be much more powerful in battle. And though it wasn't like him to wax poetic, he couldn't help but add a few words of sentiment. "Be careful as you fall into the land of dreams, sometimes reality looks so much duller in comparison, but it is something to be faced. There will be many adversities in this life, but I will always be there to face them with you Carisa. Goodnight."
