Raine began to clench and unclench her fists. The fire kept spreading, a silent, red blanket engulfing her. "No, no, no, no." She chanted quietly to herself. Any moment now they would notice. Raine shook her head wildly, still trying to push her instinct down. No one wanted to mess with a young Firebender who is use to using her powers as freely as eating and drinking.

"Raine." Kimiko warned Raine, putting a hand out. Then she whipped around as she heard the fight starting. "Hey. You. Maybe he's right, maybe you're right, I don't care. But you put yourself in his shoes for a while before you go telling him how to be the Avatar. You think you'd make a better one?" She looked her straight in the eyes.

All at once, the flames extinguished. Raine relaxed with a grateful look at her sister. "Thanks." She mouthed.

"No, she's right." Aang lowered his eyes in shame.

"No problem." Kimiko said without turning away from Kymiki. Then she looked at Aang, then back at Kymiki. "Happy now? You've succefully convinced the Avatar he can't be himself correctly. Way to go."

Raine lay a hand on Aang's shoulder and glared at the girl. "Yes. Way to go. You may have just ruined the worlds last chance at survival from the Fire Nation. Happy?" Raine snarled, anger turning her eyes crimson.

Kimiko sighed, and looked down. "I'm sorry. I've just spent to much of my time being told I was no good at being me, and couldn't I be more like someone else, any one else." She dropped her voice to a whisper only Kymiki could hear. "This will probably be shaken off, but trust me, over time you should try to forgive him for being him. I wasn't, and trust me, when people put something huge in the hands of a twelve year old..." she gestured to herself.

Kymiki was glaring. "All I'm saying is that if I was the Avatar, I wouldn't let people attack other people. Or, at least, I'd get mad at the attacker. I wouldn't go," she said this next bit in a high-pitched annoying voice, "Oh, you Firebended at innocent bystanders? Great! Will you teach me how to do that?"

Kimiko glared, but her eyes looked hurt. "You have no idea what it's like for us!" she screamed. "You guys just came running in and started going 'Nooooo! Firebenders!' with out any reason! Fire nation people aren't all bad, you know!" she put her hands on her head. "I have been on the run for so long i can't remember when I left, and every where I go, I have been kicked out, hurt, captured, and chased away by everyone who heard I was Fire Nation. Before I left, I didn't even know there was a war. Now, I'm not sure there was ever peace! I don't how it's been for Raine, but getting scared when people find out you're a firebender seems logical to me!" she took a deep breath. "Okay, I'm sorry, she shouldn't have bended at you. But where I've been lately, not making the first move often ends up badly for the person not making the first move." She gestured hopelessly at Katara. "She offered to heal you earlier. I'm sure she'll do it now." She sat down. "You guys can drop me off anywhere now." "Cause I'm sure you want to. What hero wants to travel with 'the enemy'?" she thought.

"Fine. Whatever. If you don't want to learn Earthbending, and you want to learn to Firebend from someone like her, that's your choice. I'm out of here." Kymiki said. She crawled over to the edge of Appa, only to see down to the ground, thousands of miles below here. So much for storming off.

Kimiko glanced up at both Katara and Sokka for a second. She had stayed in the South Pole for a while earlier when running away, but not too near the village she found. Occasionally she thought someone saw her when she was watching the village for boats coming and going, but she always hid if she saw someone looking up at the hill she was on.
