"N-nothing," Rani stammered, quickly moving along to pick up an oddly shaped vegetable. Mae had always warned her not to tell people about how sick their mother was. Most already knew that their father was off fighting in the war. If people knew about Mom, she and Mae might catch the attention of robbers.

Hahli rased her eye brow but then shrugged. "Ok then, well, I'm almost done. Just have to look for some more clothes. Want to join me?"

"Sure. Let me just," Rani said, fumbling to quickly grab her money without anyone noticing where it was hidden like Mae had taught her to. She managed to pull out enough for the food. She paid and picked up her purchases. "Okay, I'm ready."

[MagicGirl]

"Great. I know a store that sells great shoes down here." Hahli said pointing ahead of her then started walking again.

Rani looked down at her boots quickly. They were blue, lined with soft gray fur on the inside. They were warm and comfortable. She'd had them for about two years. Her toes pressed against the end by now, but not uncomfortably. Even so, she'd love new boots. But it was way too expensive. She new that once these got too small, she'd just get a pair of Mae's old ones. That didn't necissarily bother her, but still. She hurried after Hahli.

Hahli needed more heat friendly for her trip so once she went into the store she walked straight to the summer nations shoes. This store sold clothes from every nation, even air nation on a very lucky day. So Hahli knew she'd have no problem finding the right stuff.

Rani wondered why Hahli was buying summery clothes. It never got that warm here. But she wasn't going to question the girl. So she just silently admired the beautiful clothes.

Hahli picked up a pair and turned to Rani. "What do you think?" She asked. She maent how they look and probably last then realised Rani didn't know. "I like to have a pair for if I go out." She made up, knowing it sounded lame.

"Oh," Rani said with a nod. "I like them." The shoes were beautiful. Hahli would look amazing in them.

Hahli smiled and nodded. “I'll try them on.” She said sitting down and slipping on the shoes. They fit perfectly.
