What You Are

- Kay was born in the Southern Air Temple, but she wasn't raised there. Her family were true air nomads, traveling from place to place without staying anywhere for too long. She was taken with them on their travels shortly after her birth, and her home became the road.
As she grew, her parents taught her how to airbend, and she developed quickly. She was taught history, math, reading, and writing from people they would come across and occasionally travel with, like tinkerers and troupers. She had been to many a school whenever they went through towns, though the longest she's ever been in one was a week. Sometimes, the family would come across more skilled airbenders, and she would learn new tips and tricks.
By the time Kay was 14, she was a well learned airbender, though of course didn't know as much as she could. Two weeks after her 15th birthday, she set out on her own, planning to discover the world and meet new people. Her goals are to meet and train with a Master Airbender, and become one herself. (And maybe go to the Northern Water Tribe. That place is all the way across the world!)
Of course, the whole Zhang business put a damper on things. Life is a little harder, money is a little scarcer, nothing is what it used to be. Freedom. Peace. None of it resembles the life her parents had.

- Kay is, very frankly, a cheery sort of person. She doesn't let much get to her, and is usually pretty cool with most things, such as what people chose to believe. She isn't scared to laugh if something is funny, or joke if the mood seems right. Like the wind, she knows when to give, as well as when to press. Kay can be stubborn, and will hold her ground if she thinks she's right about something.
Having been around so many different types of people, Kay doesn't judge anyone by appearance. She's eager to meet new people, and something that would put most people off usually just leaved her more interested. Harsh words will make her back off, but only for so long before she forgets and begins pestering you yet again.
She is, like many Airbenders, all about freedom. Air Nomads detach themselves from worldly problems and concerns; peace and freedom are the keys to solving life difficulties. That is so for her, though she's not as calm nor as quiet as most of the older, more experienced nomads.
I would add more, but her being a new character for me, I'm not even sure if all of this will stick. I'd rather not add more and botch things up when we start. She might resemble this, she might not. I apologize if I cause inconvenience.

- > Airbending is definitely a strength, and it's certainly something she's good at. She has a glider to use for flight when she wants to travel far fast, and she can use the wind to propel herself forward if she's on foot.
- >> Airbending includes a lot of things, but she doesn't know as much as she wishes she did. Most of her attacks when fighting are simple, such as using the wind to push back opponents. A list of attacks and skills she knows are:
- >>> Air ball, Air punch/kick, Air scooter (we all know this one), Gliding (through assistance with staff/glider)
>>> Air funnel - Weak, usually ends up messy for her
>>> Air Shield - Weaker then the Air Barrier, though stronger then what most manifest.
>>> Enhanced Agility - Air movements can also be used as a levitation aid. Airbenders jump high and far by riding on strong gusts of wind, and can slow or deflect falls by creating cushions of air. The constant movement required by this art makes airbenders naturally flexible and agile. Even without bending they can easily maneuver around an opponent by ducking, jumping, and side stepping, appearing to flow around their opponents without expending any energy at all, letting the opponent tire themselves out and thus creating exploitable openings. This conservation of energy combined with high stamina gives them an advantage in prolonged combat. Light step is also a plus, and lets them remain quieter easier.
>>> Enhanced Speed - Airbenders enhance their movement in battle; they can run swiftly by decreasing air resistance around them and even sprint across or run up vertical surfaces by generating a wind current behind themselves to propel them forward. When used by a skilled airbender, this technique can enable the airbender using it to travel at a speed almost too swift for the naked eye to be able to see properly. Kay is still working on this, and tends to screw up more often then not.
> Blind Fighting
- >> It doesn't need much of an explanation. Kay can fight in the dark, using the wind to carry sound to her, and to assist her in many ways. This is a rare technique she learned on her own.
> Staff Fighting/Miscellaneous
- >> Staff fighting is something her mother taught her, and she's very, very skilled with it. This extends to light and heavy staffs, short and long. She can throw a spear well enough and even manages to fire an arrow, both with and without the help of airbending.
> General Weaknesses
- >> Kay doesn't know as many attacks as she wants. She's skilled, yes, and has a lot of experience, but she's nowhere near the level she wants to be at. There are so many forms, so many new things for her to do. With Zhang ruling over everything, her opportunities to learn have dwindled to little dredges at the bottom of the teacup. Most of what she learned came from her parents, or she discovered on her own.
Airbending, though powerful in its own right, is meant for defensive rather then offensive. There are few damaging attacks, as most moves are meant for evading and distracting their opponent, and eventually tiring them out. She's good in a fight, but she can't do as much damage as the others.

- Other then airbending? Well, she's a little worldly, after having traveled as much as she had. She's smart, and can read, write, is semi-okay at mathematics, and knows her history. Not the best education, but she knows enough to get by well. She can barter, and it isn't below her to fool a shop owner for a lesser price on an item she needs.
In her family travels, Kay had to earn her keep with the moving caravans and troupes they often lingered with. She learned how to act, to be apart of plays, and how to play the lute. Her judge of character allows her to put on the right act at the right times, for all manner of reasons. To seem intimidating, to seem unhurt or uncaring, to remain distant, to act in such a way that catches ones eye. She plays her lute in taverns for a night or two of room and board.
The world is her stage, and the residence is her audience.

- When Kay was three, her parents gave her a baby Flying Lemur. She named him Lee, and he's been with her ever since.

- There is some stuff on her I missed or wanted to add, but I wasn't sure how to integrate in. Those things might or might not show up in the rp. Wolfsabre, you already received a pm with an example of writing from another rp, so I think I'm all set.
