As she was walking, she kept her mind carefully blank, letting her wolf take control and listen for signs of danger. Her ears twitched constantly with every tiny noise the forest made; the creaking of the branches in the canopy above, the scuttle of small animals over the fallen leaves, the wind blowing above.
She tensed as the sharp crack of a broken branch echoed behind her, and just as she was about to growl a warning, she relaxed. The head of a doe was poking through the bramble bushes behind her, staring at the she-wolf curiously before retracting her head. Calm down, she ordered herself, and continued walking.
