The man turned to his partner. "And the other dog?" he asked. The man, around 22, said grimly, "Dead. This one," he pointed at Nala,"Is still relatively healthy. Then again, we did inject the male with more than we did with her."

Alex was too far away from the men who had just dog-napped Nala to hear them, and her senses where dulled by the shock of loosing Link, though she didn't know this. Sighing, she supposed that she should apologize to DJ for her abrupt (and rude) departure. She set off in the direction of his house.

In the bed of the red pick-up truck, Nala and a few more dogs lay still; thier breath all in sync with each other.

Alex bounded through the forest, ignoring everything around her, which was uncommon for her. She followed her scent trail through the forest, coming to a halt in front of DJ's house. She walked slowly up the steps, and scratched on the door.

DJ opened the door. "Have you seen Nala?" He asked, his eyes clouded with worry.

Alex shifted to her human self, her eyebrows raised. "No, the last time I saw her, she was heading home. That is to say, here." she clarified. Her voice was full of concern, for DJ, Nala, and the unborn pups. "Lets look for her," she said sharply, and shifted once more, looking back at DJ and waiting.

DJ shifted, his hackles raised.

The men nodded, the younger one starting the truck.

Alex's ear twitched as she heard the faint noise of a truck starting. "Either someone's stealing my truck," she snarled, "Or someone's got Nala." she rocketed off the porch, heading for the sound of the truck.

DJ growled, taking off after her. "Hurry!" The older man snapped.

A faint cry of, "Hurry!" made Alex run harder, faster. The trees where starting to thin, and saw a cherry red pickup truck, sitting there idly. Snarling, she jumped up at the front of the truck, leaping onto the hood and baring her long, sharp teeth at the men inside.
