Lilura just shrugged and sat down at the table. "Whatever, I'm a girl. It's my job to do that." She started digging into her food, being slightly polite since he was sitting right there.

"Part of the reason I much prefer to hang out with guys, like Lucas here, instead of over thinking, little girls," Cavan retorted and his grin grew a bit. He was just messing with her, he spent plenty of time with everyone in the pack, both genders and all ages."

But in the corner, at the cold
hour of dawn, sat the poor girl, with
rosy cheeks and with a smiling mouth,
leaning against the wall--frozen to
death on the last evening of the old
year. Stiff and stark sat the child
there with her matches, of which
one bundle had been burnt.
"She wanted to warm herself,"
people said. No one had the
slightest suspicion of what
beautiful things she had seen;
no one even dreamed of the
splendor in which, with her
grandmother she had entered
on the joys of a new year.

Lilura pouted at him through her bite of food. "I'm more like a boy than a girl anyway. You should know that by now. It's just that wiring in my brain wasn't removed properly.." She shoved more food into her mouth and chewed stubbornly.

Cavan snickered and shrugged, "Well, then maybe you should go to a brain electrician and get it rewired correctly. 'Cause that's the most annoying thing a girl does." He grinned as he propped one foot up on the edge of the couch and leaned his arms on his knee.

Lilura rolled her eyes and glared at him, finally finishing her food. "Whatever. You only say that cuz it looks like you're not interested in anyone." She huffed and took her plate to the kitchen.

Cavan laughed and shrugged, "I don't have time to be interested in anyone. Relationships take a lot of time and attention that I don't have to spare." He watched her go, hoping his teasing hadn't really offended her, he hadn't really meant any of what he'd said. He knew his relationship status was a hot topic among the Pack, especially the eligible females and many of the older faes had taken to trying to play matchmaker with him. Some openly, some more secretly. But had taken to avoiding relationships since the few he'd had ended badly thanks to his position or his sister.

Lilura shrugged at his words, making it into the kitchen. "Yea, I guess you're right." She wasn't really offended, it was more like embarrassment and disappointment mixed together. The embarrassment came from bringing up relationships with her Alpha, the disappointment coming from the fact that he was actually right about being too busy for a relationship and the part of herself that was starting to develop feelings for him.

"Yes, I am," Cavan replied with a nod, "I'm the Alpha, I'm always right, even when I'm wrong. Besides, there are several other much more available brutes in the Pack that are just as good or better than I am for a mate that could actually spend their time with their mate."

Lilura looked at him, slightly blushing. "Who said anything about mates?" She gave him a scoff and went back to the plates. "I don't want one anyway.."

Cavan snickered, "Relationships often lead to mates, Lilura. I for one wouldn't even consider a relationship if I couldn't consider the fae being a mate. But I don't consider relationships currently anyway. Also, I never said you did want one, I'm just making conversation."
