Skulduggery sagged in relief. And here he had thought she might dodge it. Well, looked like she hadn't quite learned the best off him. He jogged over to Valkyrie, slung her over his shoulder and headed back to the Bentley. Once he got back, he handcuffed her hands together and he drove to the Sanctuary.

She started to regain consciousness, becoming aware that she was sat on something comfortable. Her eyes opened slightly and she realised she was sitting in the Bentley and her hands were handcuffed together. And guess who was driving? Just great... Something was sliding down the back of her head, blood she assumed.

Skulduggery~
Skulduggery glanced back at his rear view mirror. "Awake?" he asked. Receiving no answer, he continued. "I find it rather ironic, don't you? The good guy who used to go around throwing people in cars with their hands cuffed together is now sitting in a car belonging to her dear friend, me, with her hands cuffed together. Isn't life interesting?"

“No.”, she said in a quiet tone, but loud enough for him to hear her. “What I find ironic is, the one guy who knows how it feels to lose loved ones, won't let me get revenge on the people who killed mine.”

Skulduggery~
Ouch. That went deep. Very deep. Skulduggery stayed silent for a moment. Valkyrie was right. She did have a point. He didn't exactly have the right to stop her getting revenge. He had gone absolutely crazy when his family died. "Your right," he said after a moment's pause. "That is ironic. But I never said I'd stop you from getting revenge. YOU will get revenge. Yes, you, not Darquess. Letting Darquess out would only upset things, you know that." Skulduggery stopped at a red light and he looked at Valkyrie through the mirror. "But trust me, I'll let you have revenge. Sweet, sour, bitter revenge."

She sighed quietly, knowing her words had cut deep. “I'm trying to keep her at bay...but it's so hard...”, she said in a small voice. “She's getting stronger...”

Skulduggery thought for a moment before replying. "I know how it is. It's really hard, fighting against the temptation. But don't forget that whatever happens, I'll be there for you. Even dead, I'll be there for you." He kept his voice in a solemn tone. The light turned green and he continued on his way.

She nodded silently, looking down as Skulduggery drove closer to the Sanctuary. Wow...this was a nightmare. “You know we're just delaying the inevitable...I can't hold on forever and you know that.”

"I know," said Skulduggery. "We'll face it when the time comes. But for now, since I don't think you'll like me dragging you to the Sanctuary, how about we go to the cafe that we were talking about earlier?"
