She gulped, for some strange reason, she wasn't able to cry, not at all. Valkyrie was more angry at herself and the people who did this. Those monsters. She would show them what a monster was. “Bye Skulduggery...we might not meet again for a while after this.....”, she said, glancing at him and setting her sister down. She had the intention of letting Darquesse out and it wasn't just an intention, she was going to do it.
Valkyrie caught sight of a note on the ground near her and, with a trembling hand, picked it up. “Yes, we killed your family. Come and get us.”, she read quietly to herself. Her eyes narrowed in a fit of silent anger and she stood, going to walk past Skulduggery out of the house.

Skulduggery hurumphed to himself. Following Valkyrie out, he slapped her across the back of the head. Holding onto her jacket, he muttered, "And where do you think you're going right now, young lady?" His voice was solemn, betraying no emotion.

Skulduggery slapped her across the back of the head and she shook her head, walking on. She didn't get far though, he grabbed her jacket, preventing her from going anywhere. “I'm going to find and kill those b******s that murdered my family. They want to be monsters, I'm gonna show them what a monster is, right when I rip their still beating hearts from their chest.”, she said, a small smirk slightly curving her lips. That was more Darquesse talking than Valkyrie. Her family having been killed had literally pushed her over the edge. Now it would be a matter of hours before she would give up the constant mental battle with herself and surrender to darkness. “Have you got a problem with any of that?”, she said, looking right at him with a cold as steel glare in her dark green eyes.

Skulduggery fumed. "I do, as a matter of fact. Don't you ever think things through? What are you going to do after you rip their beating hearts from their chest? Are you going to rampage on the world and kill innocent families like your over here?" He pointed to her house, and he continued. "And who do you think will have to stop you? Me! Me, me ,me. But I can't do it. So are you telling me that you're asking me to grab Vile's armour out and attempt to stop Darquess with that? Because you know it's not going to work." He tapped her temple with a gloved finger. "Just think it through a moment before you go off doing rash things, OK?"

“No!”, she snapped, anger and grief in her eyes. “Do you expect me to just accept the fact that my family's dead. I didn't even get to say goodbye...”, she whispered, before looking up at him fiercely. “So just stay out of my way.” Valkyrie shook free of his grip on her jacket.

Skulduggery left her be and watched as she walked away. A part of him expected her to turn back and come back, but he knew she wouldn't. Valkyrie was too stubborn. He stormed back to his Bentley and closed the door with a BANG! Taking a few deep breathes, he cleared his head. Anger wasn't going to get him anywhere. Going through the options available to him, he ticked them off one by one. Kill Valkyrie, Knock her out, go to the Sanctuary and set up the Accelerator, call out Lord Vile, or kill the bad guys himself. Well, the first was out of question, and he didn't want to alarm the Sanctuary unless it was an absolute necessary. Calling out Lord Vile would be too dangerous and Valkyrie would kill him if he killed the bad guys. So that left one option. Knock out Valkyrie. Wow. Wasn't life wonderful? Skulduggery peered out of his window and watched Valkyrie. He'd get close to her when she wan't looking. Right now, she was probably expecting him to go after her. Well, he couldn't wait too long, but now wasn't the right time to attack. Sheesh. Planning this was hard.

She rounded the corner and angrily kicked a bin which happened to be there. Valkyrie continued walking, now deep in thought. How would she find these killers? She knew what she would do, kill them.

Skulduggery followed Valkyrie at a safe distance, close enough not to lose her, but not close enough to be sensed or spotted. He climbed a tree and leapt from branch to branch. Hearing the loud clanging of metal on the floor, he winced. Ouch. That would hurt. Thank goodness, it wasn't him that it hit. Creeping slowly towards Valkyrie, he picked up the rubbish lid and tucked it close to him. Judging his distance and his power, he aimed it at Valkyrie's head and threw.

She was too deep in thought to hear the sound of the bin lid hitting the ground. The large metal lid flew through the air toward her head and hit the back of her head, knocking her out instantly. She crumpled to the ground, a rather large cut on the back of her head leaking blood.
