The lack of oxygen was making Taylor's vision blurry, so the hand on his shoulder made him jump. The voice he then heard made him want to scream in Kordell's face. He was struggling to see how it was alright, he couldn't breathe nor control his powers and he felt like he was going to die. In panic, he grabbed onto Kordell's wrist, fingernails digging in slightly as his hand started to turn back into flesh. Unfortunately his throat wasn't following suit, black spots were appearing in his vision, he felt like he was about to pass out. The darkness eating away at the corners of his sight was terrifying, and Taylor kept forcing himself awake. How to turn the stone thing off? He had no clue. His powers seemed to have a life of their own, and he'd never had anyone from the Wings family teach him how to use his powers correctly - probably why they played up.
Then there was a sharp pain at the back of Taylor's head, and suddenly cool air was flowing into Taylor's lungs. He took several spluttering breaths, choking and coughing. Thank the heavens for that... Taylor thought to himself. This had happened before, but some times he'd passed out before the air had been able to return to his lungs. He'd woken on the floor, confused, with lungs that felt like they were on fire. Once or twice he'd woken to find himself in hospital with a breathing tube forced down his throat - that hadn't been fun. Especially the time when he'd had to go to a human hospital because he passed out in the middle of a street and an ambulance had arrived. They'd done many x-rays to try and figure out why his throat was stone, and even tried to remove the stone - which would not have ended well had Taylor's adoptive parents not shown up with Deryn and had a bit of mind wiping done.
Taylor finally let go of Kordell's wrist, and wiped the blood from around his mouth. He guessed that he'd torn the back of his throat a little with his powers, he wasn't surprised, it wasn't the first time. There didn't seem to be enough blood to cause any damage to his lung though, so he didn't really mind. There wasn't enough to choke on.
Suddenly realizing that there was a person there, right in front of him, Taylor backed away until he was right up against the tree. 'Who are you?' His hands spelled out the words in sign language, wondering if Kordell might be able to understand him.

He rested his hand on the table for a moment as he sorted out his thoughts and figured out what was happening. He couldn't sense Kordell's presence because of the charm he'd given the man, but he could see Kordell through Taylor's thoughts to know that the choking child was already being dealt with. Jayne and Lars on the other hand, apparently not. He started heading through the corridors, looking for the pair of them and when he found them he pulled them into a class room so they could talk privately. "What's going on?"
