as Basil's vision became blurry, she cried out again, " help...", the sound croaky and fant. By this time she had ripped off her jacket and covered her mouth, the thick material a barrier. Body felt coated in ash, and as spots danced before her eyes, either sparks or lack of oxygen, a young man suddenly appeared in the smoke. He wore a hood, and Basil's tears made it hard to see, but she could tell he looked Amerite. His pale skin and the few tufts of white hair that were visible were reassuring. He roughly grabbed her arm and held her in a standing position, his words sounded distant and garbled, but she made out "quiet" and " out". She nodded, and the stranger led/dragged her through twisting hallways, and finally out a door. Gulping fresh air, Basil stumbled through the exit, and dropped onto her knees. " no, get up! A bit farther!" The stranger yelled angrily, and once again grabbed her arm, running through back alleys and past buildings. When they finally stopped, Basil once more fell to the ground, this time her knees buckling, and fainted.

Jerald gulped at the fresh, clean air as they burst through the back doors. But he didn't stop, digging every memory and map out of his mind he pulled her through the Ally ways and into a neighboring ice forest. He stopped under an old weeping willow that completely encased them with branches that slumped to the ground. He planted his hands on his knees and panted. The lack of oxygen and quick movements slowly pulling at his legs until they finally gave out and he slumped to the ground. Behind him, he heard the girl fall. Crumpling into a disarrayed heap. Whoever this girl was, she had done well in keeping up with him. after a few minutes of exhausting recovery he leaned against the tree trunk and watched the ice. This forest was something else. Every tree, twig, leaf, pebble, was encased in a thin layer of ice. The branches didn't move and the leaves made a soft clinking sound as they were knocked against each other in a gentle wind. Puffs of powder snow were blown up here and there in small clouds of ice and water, before falling back to rest on the icy ground. Letting his eyes wander, they came to rest on Basil. He sighed and quietly propped her up in a sitting position against the frozen tree. I wonder who she is...she doesn't look Amerite or Soleil...is she foreign? And why was she in Ryuzaki's house? his head spun with unanswered questions but before he could ponder on any of them, his eyes slipped shut and he fell into a light sleep. One ear open for any noise or intruder.

Ava ran out of the building, choking as the smoke filled her lungs. She passed out outside of the building, on a marble step.. just out of the hungry reach of the bright fire, which was being put out. Her eyes were closed, her body lay there as if she were dead. Gaurds stepped over her as if she were a corpse, ignoring her and trying to dose the flames. One stepped on her leg, and normally she would've cried out in pain, but she couldn't bat an eye, since she was unconsious.

Ryan had followed Ava to the door of the buliding, but stopped and yelled for her to come back. The fire was too dangerous, and Basil had probably gotton out already. She must not have heard him, though, because she just kept going. He waited for her to come back, dodging the frantic guards, coughing from the smoke, and searching the exits for any sign of her. Finally, he spotted her, lying on one of the main steps, just as a guard stepped on her. "Hey! Ava! Wake up!" he yelled, running to her side. Her eyes were closed, so he checked her pulse. It was too quick, but at least it was still there. "She's not dead! Someone help me get her to safety! Hey!" he yelled at the guards, trying to carry/drag her away from the smoke. Her normally pale skin was bright pink skin and too hot.

Itan, who used to be respected was now only known as 'Imara's brother'. It was annoying. He contemplated this in his mind as he carried a large green hose which spurted a sticky white substance that put out the fire. That was when he heard the newcomer's plea. He was leaning over that girl..the one Itan had originally thought a Soliel. "Mauricio, take this!" He shouted, handing the hose to a friend, and co-worker. Itan rushed over to the boy. "What happened?" He asked, gently sliding his arms under the girl's legs and back, waiting for the boy to take the girl's shoulders and head. As they lifted her, her orange hair fell loosely, hanging down. Her complextion was returning to normal, but she didn't wake up.

Basil's eyes fluttered, and slwoly opened. everything was blurry, and really...shiny. as her eyes adjusted, she could see that in a forest, every leaf and trunk and branch covered with a thin layer of frost. the frost bounced light into her eyes, the brightness almost painful. She was leaning aganit a tree, the rough bark uncomfortable against her back. She coughed, her lungs feeling clotted and heavy. As she tried to stand, her temples flared with an intense pain, and she slumped back into a sitting position. "where am i?" she thought, the journey here blurred and fragmented, as she tried to rise again, the pain was not nearly as prominent this time, and she was able to stand. As she took in her surroundings again, she froze. That Amerite man. now she remembered. he had saved her. She slowly walked around him, trying not to wake him, but, as she slowly skirted around him, Basil's foot landed on a twig, a small "crack" in quick pursuit.

{I apologize for not being very active lately...}

She had reached the smoking building soon after the other and had instantly started trying to get in. The building was spewing smoke and the fire was slowly calming to a low steam. Never the less, she couldn't get close. The guards were frantic and the entire square seemed to be in complete chaos. As she looked around, she spotted Ryan, Ava and a guard. She hurried over. "What happened? Is she all right?" She walked/hopped along next to them.

Jerald's eyes shot open at the small noise, and his hand clamped around a small dagger on his belt. His eyes took a minute to refocus on the girl now directly in front of him and he relaxed slightly. thank god it's not a guard... he sighed and straightened up. "You probably shouldn't be moving too much yet. You've Inhaled quite a bit of smoke..." As if on cue, he took a deep breath, letting the cool air soothe his burning lungs.
