Introduction
So I suppose many of you have heard of Atlantas? Well in my world mermaids and others have already come out to the humans. That's right, they know all about us...well perhaps save our weaknesses and the location of our Kingdom. My name is Cadyn, my father is the current reining king of Atlantas and a descendant of Poseidon. Also before you ask...yes, my father DOES have a trident and yes, I am a MERMAN. My life has become ever more interesting since I joined the ranks of our army as a School Leader, all the while juggling royal duties, training sessions and missions. Under the water you can meet all sorts of creatures you never knew exsisted....even other Mer were unaware of the sea serpents, hippocampi and more. Come and join me and learn more.

More About Atlantas
The kingdom itself is disguised as a large island but much to most people's surprise only half of it is actually underwater. There is a village above the water that has easy access of the water and in fact has water canals lacing the streets so that couriers and other animals might move about freely. It is a gorgeous place unlike most other cities in the modern world. They do have electricity via geothermal and solar energy but do not get radio signals or something of the like. The island it'self is divided into three parts. The western most part is where the village resides, while a large cave system that is both underwater and above houses the larger creatures such as sea serpents, rests on the Southern port. The official above ground palace is built into a large mountain of sorts, made of varying materials such as limestone and marble. The palace is open from Noon to 7:30 for any of the citizens but weekends and other times the palace is closed to the royal family and warriors. Atlantas is surrounded by a protective barrier that the humans have taken to calling 'the bermuda triangle.' It is purely magic and causes all sorts of phenomenon to occur.

More About The Creatures.
~Mer~
This is the general term for our mermaids and mermen. The Ruling Family is Mer and the royals are direct descendents of Poseidon, the sea god. All Mer possess the ability to manipulate the water in varying degrees of strength, two things are for sure though : They can breathe underwater, and control the temperature of the water directly around them. Most possess a tail but every once in a while there will be children who do not grow into their scales. It's a rare occurence but it DOES happen, the children can still breathe under water and whatnot but they are usually poor swimmers by Mer standards. Warriors usually have a secondary ability but it varies. Only the King himself or the Crown Prince can control currents, climate, or storms. Also, no two tails are completely alike, they come in different shapes, sizes, patterns and colors. Usually there is a First and Secondary color to the scales. They possess the ability to turn their tales into legs but it is relatively painful and even when they finish, the shine of scales is still visible on their skin. Mermen have two sets of fangs that are thick and serrated, similar to sharks teeth but longer on their upper and lower jaws. They also have retractable two inch claws...while females only have the sharpened nails that are great at cutting.
~Sea Serpents~
Sea serpents are exactly what their name implies: They are long, sinewy in body shape and look similar to large snakes. They can get up to 20 feet long and 10 feet around. The only difference is that they DO have four legs but they are tucked up against the body when in the water so as to stay streamlined. The males have large fans that surround the back of their heads, they can flare bright red when blood rushes to the skin. This usually signals agression, irritation, pain or arousal. For the latter sometimes they are used for dominance displays when looking for a mate...the bigger and redder the fin, the stronger they are. Females are usually larger than males and have a silver line running down their backs. They do NOT shift into anything humanoid, the usually come in greens, greys or blues or a mix of all three. Also, Males out number Females 10 to 1 so reproduction rate is low.
~Hippocampi~
These are the steeds of Atlantas with the the torso and head of a horse but they also have fins instead of hooves as well as a powerful fluke instead of rear legs. These are very intelligent creatures and can communicate in human languages but they are also usually very shy around outsiders. Males can be extremely aggressive and are notoriously hard to handle. Another thing about them is that they are omnivourous and eat both fish and plant life. They are very strong swimmers and can outrace just about all other creatures when in the water. They come in varying colors ranging from vibrant to dark. They can also only bond with one Mer, meaning they stay companions with their Master for the duration of that Mer's life. Females outnumber males 6 to 1 so stallions are rare.
~Shifters~
Okay most everyone has heard of shifters, well the ones we are focusing on are the aquatic ones. Most are Dolphins, Sharks or whatnot but every once in a while you get odd ones like sword fish and others. Whales are rare but the Blue and Killer whales are by far the most rare. They obviously have a human form and typically it takes anywhere between 10 seconds and a full minute for them to finish their shift. They can communicate telepathically with other sea-born creatures such as Mer in shifted shape.

~Any and all communicating should be in parentheses or brackets. (()) {{}} [[]]
~Any and all questions concerning the rp should come to me via PM
~No god-modding...I am the power that be and there is always a good reason for certain characters to be stronger.
~No perfect characters...everyone has flaws.
~Obey the ratios in animal descriptions..I don't care if you want to be a Serpent or what not but certain genders are in more abundance than others.
~ Have fun! But make sure you can handle all of your characters...no more than four a person to start with.
~ You may make your own form for the others..the Mer are the only ones with a required form.
~ Post a minimum of three sentences at a time...one liners will get you a warning..three warnings and your out.
