Ashe let her feet dangle dangerously over the edge of her little perch, smiling at the familiar feeling of wind gushing by, buffeting through her hair. She knew that Flint would most definitely disapprove of her being here, but then again, it wasn't as if her presence would be missed back at camp. The only ones who actually had true positions in the group were, of course, the leader himself, Lotus, and then Hatter. The rest of them might be sent out for wood and things on occasion, but otherwise, weren't really needed. Ashe began to hum a soft tune to herself, as she re-opened her eyes, allowing them to float over the world around her. Miles upon miles of open water in one direction, and then the denser part of the center island in another. She could just see the beginnings of the cove, and couldn't help but let her mind wander towards it. She had always wondered what it was about the cove that Flint was so afraid of, to forbid them from going there. Of course, she could always ask Sawyer - the other girl most likely knew. Anything against the rules sort of called her name. Which, Ashe could relate to. She wouldn't deliberately disobey their leader as Sawyer would, although if the opportunity arose for her to venture to that edge of the island, she wouldn't pass it up. Maybe Booth would take her there eventually. So far, the boy had let her accompany him across the island through the denser part of the jungle, to see the reef, and had also let her tag along to one of the smaller islands with the mountain in the center. Speaking of, Ashe tilted her head to the left a bit, and could just see the peak of the mountain in the distance, outlined against the sky. They hadn't climbed to the top, but had went pretty far up, nevertheless. To say the least, Ashe had enjoyed it. She wondered why Booth chose her, of all people, to take along on his little expeditions, although she guessed it was because she never stopped speaking about the rest of the world. Seeing fairies and pixies and mermaids and crocodiles and indians was all she ever talked about. The others had begun to be a bit annoyed by her endless list of hopeless dreams, so she supposed that Booth would take her along just to keep her satisfied. The only one who didn't seem to be bothered by her longing to travel was Becker. He would listen to her for hours as she spoke of far-off horizons, bluer waters, greener grass. But, then again, Becker might have been annoyed, and just didn't say anything because they were so close.
Letting out a sigh, Ashe scooted a bit more towards the edge, peering down at the huge vertical drop beneath her into the water. She wasn't going to jump off, of course, although she had before, and it was perfectly safe. She just liked the feeling of being up above everything and everyone. This little perch of hers was the closest she'd ever get to being able to see all of neverland at once. It was beautiful, with it's lavender and violet hued skies, bright golden sun shining from high in the sky, birds swooping through the air in every direction, and the shimmer of the water beneath her. It was stunning. And the others wondered why she wanted to see more of it? She ran her fingers through her hair, then immediately held back onto the rock beneath her as a gust of wind shot by, actually leaning her backwards. Okay, she would admit that being up here was a bit dangerous; but it was worth it. And she didn't really have a risk of Flint scolding her. He didn't even know where she went while she was away for a few hours every couple of days. The only one who knew that she came to this spot to think was Becker, and he wasn't going to tell Flint. Well, not on purpose. He wasn't very good with words, so it was possible that he could let it slip. Hopefully that wouldn't happen. Closing her eyes, Ashe slowly laid back, so she was on her back on the small stretch of rock, her feet still dangling down in open air.

"Agh, no, that.. that wouldn't work, that can't go there." Hatter mumbled, speaking to none other than himself, which wasn't unusual of him. He was a little ways away from camp, surrounded by piles of things, wether it be glass, bamboo, or plain old sticks. This, too, was commonly seen of the boy, to be completely consumed in his work. He ran his hand through his hair, letting the small contraption in his hand fall to the ground with a small groan. He couldn't seem to get it to function right! Flint had asked him to come up with a more efficient way to get water from the small creek nearby back to camp, without having to send someone off to retrieve it in a bucket. Of course, Hatter had jumped right on it, gathering supplies, and setting the gears in his mind to work. He had already taken the stringy cords from inside the roots of the trees, and strung them from a branch over-hanging the creek, and did the same to a branch that over-hung the group's underground hovel. And it was connected to a small, turning hook, that when moved, would slide the cord back and forth, so it moved easily around the branches. He already had a few pails attatched to it, and it worked perfectle - until they reached the water. When the cord dipped down, the buckets would do the same, but they didn't scoop low enough to get water. The bottoms of the buckets brushed the water's surface instead of the rims, so no water was gathered. Hatter wasn't easily discouraged; in fact, his failure just frustrated him enough to keep trying. But he had tried four different methods to turn the buckets, and had yet to come up with one that actually worked. He had tried hooking the buckets on their sides, which allowed for them to gather water, although it couldn't fill to the top, and they were left with a small puddle of water on the side of the bucket, hardly enough for one swallow. He had tried hooking them from the bottom, which he realized was stupid of him, as now the rim brushed, but nothing could enter the bucket. Letting out a long sigh, he ran a hand over his face, just staring at everything around him, and then up to the cord. If there was a way to have the buckets tilt down at the water, and then raise back up once they were full. He knew he needed to use a weight ratio with the mass of the bucket, although he couldn't figure out what to use to make that work. Items for construction weren't exactly abundant on the island.
For a short moment, Hatter allowed himself to wipe his work from his mind, laying back, and letting out a small huff. He wondered momentarily where Dove had gotten off to. The girl was the only one of the group who was actually helpful to him while he was working on something. Sure, she didn't talk much, but she was encouraging, and genuinely seemed interested in what he did. Whereas Flint and Lotus, and the others, they liked the outcome of his ideas, although the weren't interested in the process, they just liked the advantages they brought. His eyes looked through the trees back towards camp, where he guessed Flint was, and probably Lotus, too, and he wondered if Dove was there as well. He clicked his tongue against the back of his teeth, shakig his head. He needed to get this done; maybe Dove would show up soon. Right now he just needed to focus. "Focus, focus," he repeated the word aloud, nodding determinedly, and then getting back to work.
