Kat yawned and looked down at Shadow. "Where the heck could they be?" she asked her. "I have... Wait! I smell something! ...Blood? Let's follow the scent! Hurry! It's fading!" Shadow said, quickly scurrying around a corner. Kat stood there stunned for a moment, until she heard barking. She ran around the corner where Shadow had run. What she saw scared her so much, her heart skipped a beat or two. "Kay! Hawk! What happened!? I only went to use a pay phone you know! Not that much could have happened!" Kat said, panicking.

Brenda looked up at the mysterious girl, her hands behind her back. It was uncomforting with a stranger around, but it appeared she knew Kay and Hawk so she couldn't be all bad. Still she kept her focus on Hawk, he looked pale. What could he be thinking about? she wondered, looking at his expression.

Summer nodded, then held up her hand. "Wait!" she whispered to Kalona, "Someone's coming!" She hurriedly sat down on the bed and stilled her breathing.

Kat looked down at Shadow, giving her a confused look. I don't know what happened, but I can sense the black-haired boy is in serious danger. Well, his health is actually, Shadow told Kat in a concerned voice. Kat directed her attention back to Kay, Hawk, and he other girl. "Uh... guys? Shadow here senses that Hawk is in some sort of danger with his health, I think," she said nervously.

Kay looked back at Kat. "What? How do you know what your dog said?" she asked. "Um... well... Okay! I confess! I have a certain power to hear animals, alright!? Now you guys have to do something about Hawk! He must be really injured!" Kat yelled, waving her hands frantically around her.

Hawk shook his head. 'I'm...fine' he managed, his knees trembling slightly. 'I just need to...control it'.

"No! You're not!" Kay said sternly. "You are not okay! I will NOT let you die! Now you are going to get up and let us get you to the hospital!" Kay stood up and glared down at Hawk. "Please!? For me?" she said, putting on a puppy-dog face.

Kat looked from Kay to Hawk to the other girl then back to Kay. "Wow," she muttered. Wow indeed! Shadow said. I believe there is a very intiment bond between the two of them. How sweet! Kat glanced at Shadow. "Oh really?"she asked, a smile playing at her lips.

"And how would you explain it to them? And anyway, I'm not dying, it's not hurting me, just controlling." This lie came easily. Hawk straightened up, standing to his full height. "I'm fine" he repeated.

Brenda placed her hands in front oh her, this girl seemed to be the same. Which meant there was no danger. "Taking him to the hospital would only raise suspicion though we can't just ignore this." she muttered. How she wished Summer was here, maybe her healing could help him. Right. Now she remembered Kalona and Summer, both gone. She frowned, how she missed him.

Summer stared at the door, wondering what would come through it. Most probably it will be a mad scientist, coming to take me and Kalona to the torture chamber. Or, since this is a mental facility, they'll send this innocent little girl wearing pink who has dimples. You never know with these people...
She heard a trio of footsteps along the passage, and one detached to the door on her right, and the door to the left. A set clumped to her door, and a key turned in the lock. Well, I was wrong on both accounts: they sent bouncers that could lift the Statue of Liberty. Lovely.
"I wouldn't try anything if I were you," said the bruiser, with a definite growl in his voice. "Out in the hallway. Now."
She stalked out into the hallway with all the grace of a queen. That is, until her head hit the doorframe.
"Curmudgeon! Raccle, fraccle! Why the heck do you have such low doorframes!" The guard chuckled.
"Whatever, giraffe. Hallway, now." She stumbled out into the passage, clutching her head. Through her tears of pain, she saw a guard going into Kalona's cell to get him. Hearing a noise, she turned slightly and saw a boy, her age, with shaggy blond/brown hair ahead of her in the hallway. His head was down, as if with great pain or sorrow, and her heart went out to him in sympathy. I wonder... could he be the guy that we read about? He turned, and looked at her. And Summer felt as though she was looking into the bleakest eyes in the world. Oh Brenda, Kay, Hawk, Gemma... please come soon!

Another day, another year. Life is always the same in this hellhole. I can't remember when I last saw sunshine. Nothing has changed... except for today and last night. Late, late last night, they brought someone. They put them in the cell next to me and next to the boy who smells of sulfur. The guards came for me the next morning, and I saw her. She is very tall, but I am taller. Unlike her, though, I duck when I come out of my chamber. It made me smile, but just for a moment. Then she turned to me, her eyes glistening, and I saw that they were the deepest blue. Like the deep blue of the ocean, but with a bit of sky mixed in as well. They were the most beautiful things I had seen in a long time.
