Kay looked at Hawk. "No what? You can't control what?" she asked, frightened. She was crying and didn't know what to do. She just sighed and shook her head, hopping all would be okay...

Brenda ran faster, the steady sound of his heavy footsteps just a pace away from hers. She didn't dare cast a look behind her because she knew what was there. The look was still buried in her mind, a look that would stay there for who knows how long. Her eyes darted through the streets for any chance of a hiding place. But with him so close, it looked like there was none. She could feel him, just a few inches from catching her now. Somebody, anybody, please help me! she thought.

Hawk shook his head, his black hair falling on his face. 'I can't control the darkness inside me. Dark emotions that have been buried deep erupt. I could hurt you' he whispered, looking into her eyes.

"Hawk... Y- You'd never hurt me," Kay said, staring into Hawk's deep black eyes. As she looked into them, it was as if she was getting a glimpse into his soul. She smiled weakly. "You'd never hurt me Hawk. I trust you," she said gentley. She leaned down a little bit more, brushing his hair back from his eyes. Kay stroked Hawk's cheek, smiling, a tear slowly tracing its way down her own cheek...

Summer jumped. Kalona? But that would mean... "Kalona? Is that you?" she called, not raising her voice for fear of attracting attention. She saw a hole in the wall--like a brick had been removed. She peeked through and saw Kalona tied to a chair. She smiled in relief at seeing a familiar face. "Oh my gosh, Kalona, are you alright? Did they get the others? What happened?" she cried, pressing her face to the hole.

Brenda could feel his breath on her neck, the scent of cigars invading her lungs. She focused on running and not on the scent. But before she knew it, she felt herself falling. As she crashed, she felt the pain on her knee and the warm liquid touching her skin. Her breath was gone and she could feel her legs numb. A grip tightened on her arm and shook her til she flopped over. His breath was even stronger now, the same evil grin on his face. Quickly, she raised her right arm and tossed a puddle as high as she could.
