Kendrick didn't answer for a long time. His mind wandered through a sea of memories, all of them passing as if in fast motion, but he could make out every little, gory detail. He closed his eyes and looked at Rose. "Nothing" he says, before standing up. "I'm giong to the river to get some water. i'll be right back" and he walked away until the darkness swallowed him.
Drazarriz watched him disappear before he frowns and says quietly "He still hasn't gotten over it"

Shadow relaxed when he heard that Lakota ran off with Zarenn. He laughed at himself for worrying so much. He saw the funny look on Kendrick's face, and could tell that when he said "Nothing" he didn't mean it. Shadow looked at Drazarriz questionably, "Gotten over what?"

Rose climbed onto Fern's shoulder, looking at Drazarriz as well. Fern looked at the three of them, then said quietly. "If he has a horrible past, then maybe it's best not to pry."

Sabrina listened to the others talk and absentmindedly stroked Phantom's breast feathers. Phantom enjoyed this very much and closed his eyes lazily and almost dosed. Sabrina had hardly put him down since he had come out as his true form, even now he was perched on her arm and huddled agianst her chest.

Max opened her eyes and looked around. "Fern's right. He'll talk if he does, or won't if he doesn't." Briar, her direwolf familiar, laughed silently. "Max." he said to her, his tongue lolling a bit. "That made no sense." "It made sense to me." she grumbled, stroking his head absently.

Raven had arrived at camp the same time as Shadow did but kept away from the others listening, weather they noticed she was there or not she didn't know. But when Kendrick left the group she silently followed wondering what was on his mind. Usually it was the past that left people broken in different ways, Raven thought that it could be this. Soon she was walking by his side but at least a meter away walking in the shadows and kept silent for the time being, weather he noticed she didn't know but for some reason she felt she had to make him feel ... better. And Raven hadn't done that in years.

Drazarriz looked over at Shadow and he shakes his head. "He told me to keep it secret. I would tell you, but I can't. Familiars are bound to our masters will. But, he'll probably tell you if you ask, he never lies" and he cast a worried glance at Kendrick, whose silhouette was barely visible in the shadows.

Kendrick got to the waters edge and he sat down on his knees. He cupped his hands and drank from the water. He splashed some water on his face and sighed, water dripping from his nose into the river, where it rippled. He pulled out Luminare, the ancient sword gleamed in the moonlight. He ran his finger down the blade, where he could see ancient runes inscribed. He sheathed it again and stared up at the stars.

Fern got to her feet, Rose and Willow watching her questioningly. Walking into the forest, her long legs carried her quickly and silently to where Kendrick was kneeling next to the lake. Putting a slender hand on his shoulder, she asked quietly "Why do you run from your past?"

Kendrick shuddered at Fern's touch and he shrugged away. He didn't meet her eye and he said weakly "Because I have never learned to face it. I haven't had a hundred years to think it over" he picked up a smooth stone and tossed it into the lake, where it skipped seven times before sinking below the surface.
