"I never said you were her." he denied. "I just remarked on how similar your traits are. Frankly, I think you two would hate each other. Either that, or you would be the best of friends. Strange.." he mused aloud. The prince followed the princess to a marble bench and slumped beside her. "I haven't spoken one-on-one with your father in while, let alone refreshed myself with stories of wild people, but yes. I vaguely remember those strange stories. What about them?" he asked, wondering how the myths linked to Dimari and her rebellious traits. Oh. Well that was it. Wild and rebellious.

"Why thank you. The only reason the gardens are even green are because of me. Me and my beauty." he said, grinning at her wink. "Here we are, back in your guest suite. You won't be staying in here for long. Two more months till we open the doors to our new home." he said, letting her go and leaning against the door frame. Two more months.. Those three words were had been etched in his mind since dawn. And they probably would still be until it dropped to two months, then one month, then a day. And then.. Forever.

Serena smiled brightly. She looked at KC and kissed his cheek. "Four weeks until my birthday, five weeks until yours and two months until I will marry the sweetest guy on earth." she said, wanting to walk behind the changing screen but realizing she couldn't reach the back of her dress to open it. "Could you help me with my dress?" she asked shyly, knowing it was probably inappropiate, but she didn't feel like searching half of the palace for a strange servant she didn't knew to help her. Plus, she didn't like it if strangers touched her.

Kaleb ran her calculations through his head to make sure they were right. They were, of course, and he grinned at her. Kaleb barely hesitated at her question, striding across the room and starting to deftly untie the strings on her bodice. His experienced fingers quickly unlaced her top, revealing a constraining corset that shaped her hourglass figure. He blushed as he reminded himself how inappropriate this was, and stepped back to give her some privacy. His blush turned darker as he realized how accustomed his fingers had grew to unlacing a woman's ties on her bodice.

He listened closely as her mind wandered to the gypsy myths and folklore that her father had foolishly spoken of years back. These ideas probably fueled the princess's imagination.. "It's one thing to wish, and another to be." he said softly, turning to face her. "Do you truly believe that the "wild people" were happy? They were homeless, they roamed about mindlessly, and move about each day. They were constantly searching. I believe they are still searching. Searching for happiness." He looked into her eyes, trying to read her mind."You're obviously not happy here. But would you rather be a peasant, sighing with relief each day when you wake up alive the next morning? Would you be happy if you were free from court restraints but had no food at all, nothing? Please tell me true, would you be content if you went to sleep each night, not knowing if you would wake up? Dimari, it's not that easy to be free. Being free comes with it's responsibilities and it's often more than hard to find a place in this world."

Serena smiled softly at him. "Thank you." she said, glad she could finally take of the dress. She disappeared behind the changing screen and soon dropped the complicated dress to the floor, getting out of it. She unfolded her other dress. It was also a shade of dark blue, but the dress was simple. Beautiful, but simple. Serena quickly threw on her dress, making sure it was all fitting right before bending down to pick up her ball dress. She laid it down on her bed before turning back to KC. "That's better."

Kaleb nodded at her thanks, throwing her a quick smile before she disappeared behind the velvet changing screen. Once she finished dressing and stepped out from behind it, the prince's smile grew wider as he realized he liked her in more simple dresses. It was more her. He wrapped an arm around her thin waist, kissing her forehead. "A troupe of maids should be here soon to tidy up. While they're at it, we can go on that walk in that garden." he suggested, taking her arm as he stepped out of her guest suite.

Tristan shook his head, knowing it was hopeless to get Dimari to see the light. The truth. But he kept trying. "I'm sure you think that now, but in reality you'd be scared and alone. And unhappy." he pressed gently. "And no, they don't have a home. Many don't have any family relations at all. Some are hermits without acquaintances, let alone friends. They live out their years in solitude, isolated from everyone else. And then they die, and know one remembers them. They just disappear. Dimari, many of them were homeless, had no family, no friends. They died alone. No one was there to bury them, to say goodbye. You don't want to be like that. You don't want to end like that." He sighed, his eyes scanning the neat line of bushes on the east side of the gardens.

"I know you think that being imprisoned in a palace is wrong and completely horrible, but it's not. You have more privileges than any village girl, or wild girl even, because you are a princess. Peasants would die to be in your position. They would kill to be a princess, have the opportunities of education, the clothes, jewelry, a real family. A chance at life. Most of the villagers outside of these palace gates are starving, mumbling, unhappy folk. They are numb, they go through their years day by day until they fade out. They have no life. It's true, there are some that love being poor and free, as you say. But in the end, they can't even have children or what they want for themselves because they can't afford it. And yes, home is where your family and heart is, but what if you have no heart anymore? What if your family ceases to exist? Dimari, I beg you," he said, flicking his eyes back to hers, pleading. "Don't leave what you have for something that doesn't exist. Freedom is a ruse, and you'll figure that out. There are cruel, wicked people who would do anything to young women like you, and once you're free, you have no protection. No protection at all. He turned in his seat so that he could face her full on.

"Listen, in a year or so, perhaps even sooner, you're going to be wed off to some happy duke with money. Lots of it. And you won't be happy. You'll have children with him, even though you hate the idea of it, and you'll grow old with balls to attend and masquerades to gossip at. There really is no true meaning of happiness or freedom. Life is life, and if you're living, then that's enough. Just take it slow, do what you're told, and live it out. Being safe is important, being with your family is important, being you is very important, but staying alive? That's the most essential thing. Dimari, I understand how you feel. Really, I do. You think that as a prince, I feel differently about the whole ordeal? I don't. I think the same way you think because that was how we were brought up to think. But I try to keep it in, I try to hide it and live it out. And it works. It really does. Three years ago, I avoided everyone I knew. I opened my arms to strangers and basically began living with peasants. They welcomed me, gave me everything, but then I knew that they had run out of everything, so I moved on to the next house. And on I went, emptying the purses of the meek folk in each village. Once my exploration of desolate houses was over, I felt guilty. Overwhelmingly guilty, and I repaid them. All of them. Each penny that they spent on me, they got three times the amount. They thanked me, couldn't thank me enough, said they're still in my debt. And I know that you can't ever buy happiness with money, but you can try. And it'll work for a while. And then you'll move on. That's what counts. The part about moving on. When you accept that happiness isn't ever going to come, going to stay, that it's going to leave after a few days. Dimari, please stay here. Try to be happy. Wear a smile instead of a frown. Okay?"

Tristan broke eye contact, switching his gaze to the ground. "I haven't spoken to Aria in so long. Our fathers intended me to take.." He hesitated before saying his name. "To take Aiden's place and marry her, but the engagement has been broken off. I guess I'm what you'd call "free". he gave a bitter laugh at the irony. "What about you? Any suitors caught your eye?" he asked, doubting a positive answer.
