Riley followed him over, watching with a light frown. "Attitude?" Great. He winced at the thought of sand under his fingernails. Ouch.

Torrence nodded, scrubbing harder as the tarnish became to come off, showing the shiny copper beneath.

Well, the sand seemed to work quite well. "I guess I'll try it." He said reluctantly, stepping a bit closer.

He stayed where he was, hoping he'd see movement. Eventually, when he got too tired to hold himself up, he climbed down. He sat on the steps, sulking.

I looked up at her, confused, then remembered. "Oh, that one, yeah. That's what I was talking about yesterday before we went to bed.

As soon as I was sure the boy couldn't see me, I made my way to the stables and retrieved Abelard. He nudged me and I stroked his soft nose. I glanced around, no one was within earshot, so I turned to my horse and said quietly, "He seems to have potential We'll see..."

I grinned, but I wasn't facing her, so she couldn't see it. Blaze shook her mane as if in agreement, but didn't make a sound which was good. I tapped her sides and she broke into a steady trot.

Torrence handed him the pot, most of the sand and water mixture still inside it. "Good luck. It takes patience."

"Oh, great. Patience, my strongest virtue." Riley muttered, but it was barely audible as he stepped over and started working on another pot. The sand felt weird against the hand but he kept scrubbing, feeling the strain on his small muscles. He wasn't very strong- he'd picked up a few workouts from some of the other prisoners, but he seldom did them.
