CELESTIA MISERICORDIA GRACIA

Celestia sat on a boulder under the water, as she gazed up, her eyes focusing on the brightness of the sun, as the light poured itself into the water. Making the water clearer than it already is. Looking down slightly she murmured to herself "It seems that today would be a good day to venture to land.. its bright up there..." as she let herself trail off slightly. She only had a few experiences on the land, they were good experiences but not great experiences. One time, she was sighted by a human, and she was forced to flee. It seems that her skin at that time was still moist, and not dry enough, that she could lose her tail and gain her legs to make it appear she was 'average' in the humans eyes. When she was seen by the human, she had panicked slightly. She didn't know what to do but instint told her to flee and she did. Though she wasn't expecting the human to follow her into the water but because of this she swam quicker and deeper into the water. Eventually losing the human. After that incident, she avoided the land for a few weeks. Having to ignore her calling to venture once again to it. She smiled bitterly at the memory that had invaded her mind. She barely turned seventeen around that time. She was given many privleges at that time, but they were taken back after the incident with no commotion. She didn't care the least. She could always find another spot to venture too. There are millions of places to hide and go to withought anyone knowning. With that thought she smiled again, but this time, a happier smile. She always ventured to the different areas located around the land. Making sure to map them in her mind, taking note of the ones, where she couldn't been seen and the ones that was inhabited by all the humans. It made her trips to the land much more easier. She didn't have to stay cautious, she could actually relax and admire everything around her that wasn't in the ocean. Getting off the rock she was still seated on, she looked around to make sure no one was following her. Seeing no other Merpeople, she quickly swam to the shore, her golden tail drumming against the water smoothly, as she swam to the surface. The water around her getting slowly but steadly brighter and brighter till she reached the top of the water, where she took a lungful of air. She had to appear looking human doesn't she? Rubbing her eyes of the water that covered them, she blinked and looked around for any sight of Humans. She had to take her trips to the land cautiously. It seems that the humans knew of her people, coming to there shores. She had heard terrible tales of Mermaids and Merman dissapearing after a short trip to shore. No one knew what had happenned to them after that. She was surely positive she didn't want to end up like them

-------Sweet as chocolate, the fresh scent of mahogany arose within the room as she stepped through the doorway. The ringing in their ears, much like bumble bees, buzzed ever so slightly; it was like they were swarming around that honey suckle skin of hers. Peachy freckles dotted her nose and cheeks, just below the rim of the designer sunglasses: Oaklies. She deserved the best and she got the best. Her hair fluttered down her diamond shaped head, resembling the utter insanity one would encounter when digging for a jewel such as herself in the rough. As satin as a curtain shade, it seemed to drizzle down her back, molding its way through and throughout her nimble features, finally coming to a rest just below her shoulder bone behind her, and her chest before her. Her lips parted into a challenged smile: a child indeed. She couldn't have been more than eighteen years old as her appearances described, hour glass body as nimble as her fingers, they themselves pushing back a strand of her golden locks. Worn out jeans, a slim back tanktop in place beneath the jean boyfriend cardigan. A darker shade, cedar brown buttons to match the native based floral petal patterns within her shirt. For her shoes? Nothing more than a freshly bought pair of Toms. It was much of a thrown together piece, neither lavished or lacking in the time consuming decisions. It was... casual, but it was enough to make another gawk in uttermost jealousy. It was a horror when another didnt even have to try to appear comely.
-------"We don't have all day you know." Her voice was gentle, careful in her catagory of words. Though the impatient edginess in her voice was as clear as her molten honey eyes. They peeked from the shades that rested apon her face. She was just as beautiful even when the bright sun shone down apon her and made her skin seem pale in comparison. With such a delicate, porceline appearance as she had been doved for life with, one would have figured her skin to refleck the warm rays off like a mirror. The beach's sand was warm beneath our feet, giving the tingling sensation ontop our shoulders like we were sitting too close to a fire. Beyong us, southward, the sea beckoned us towards it. She refused my plee to join me in the white water and sat apon the small sand hills to watch he fail miserably at impressing the beauty. She looked like a goddess, sitting apon the highest of the sand dunes, blonde hair flowing peacefully against the wind. Pocahontas flashed within my mind before I finally decided to join her once again. She refused to touch me until I was dry.
-------She'd gotten a bit reckless, or so she explained, taking off her shoes, rolling her jeans into capris, and swinging her shoes alongside her. Our hands entwined. She wasn't comfortable walking alongside me until we had gotten to the end of the beach, where a faded picket fence blocked our view, a mass of lumbering palm trees extending into a forest beyond. I was relentless to follow her as she climbed over, being more civilized apparently, but she was as stubborn as a dog, and I was in no position to leave her when she could possibly need me most. She ended up not needing me. She knew her path very well, claiming she came here on occassion. She led me by the hand, and I was forced to submit to those smoldering eyes of hers. I knew I was in trouble when she extended out her lower lip and I saw the pitiful puppy-dog eyes only the smoothest of lassies could pull off without effort, cocking her head to add a little to make it even more difficult to say no. It was like saying 'no cookie' to a new puppy. Before I knew it, we'd found an odd rock formation. She seemed perfectly at ease. Me? Much more apprehensive, but I didnt prove it. If she knew her way, she knew her way. When we were in the heart of the dark chocolate, molten rock, I could feel a tense as her fingers parted from between mine. Without a glance towards me, she leapt into the crystal clear, sea waters in the pool smack in the middle of the rock.
------- "Lenana!" I'd shouted her first name, not even thinking of her request to be reffered as Nina. Her head broke the surface of white bubbles, sorreled waters. I felt a sudden urge to confront her like any father would heir child. "Lenana Karin Ellsworth, what are you doing?" A fire arose in her honey eyes, a hiss between her teeth, and I suddenly felt like I was being attacked by a swarm of bees. With skin dappled in water droplets, hair shoved flat against her head with a light brunette shade, hair twirled into thin, damp strands, it made her look even more vicious. What I didnt expect next was a large, scaley bronze tail sweeping through the water behind her. Her angry deminor vanished with a flash of surprise on my face, and it was replaced with laughter, as if it were all a joke to her. It seemed to be, because when the bubbles drifted away and was that the tail was attatched to her lower abdomine it had to all be a prank. My eyes met hers in an instant, and I was suddenly overwhelmed with the feeling that life wasnt as it seemed. This childish girl before me, the one with a sweet side to her flaunted aggressivness, had more than fantasy looks. She was a mermaid.

★ hαzєl smíth ★ ғeмale ★ huntєr ★ єíghtєєn ★
• Name :: "My name's Hazel, but you can call me whatever, I won't care." Hazel's full name is Hazel Ann Smith, and has many nicknames given to her back on the mainland such as "Yarn" and "Boots", but since she hasn't seen them in so long and nobody else would understand them, the only nickname she goes by currently would be "Haze". Another interesting fact is that her parents almost named her "Maysilee", but when she was born the decided she looked more like a "Hazel", so they named her that instead.
• Gender :: "Feel like checking?" Hazel is female, and would like to keep it like that.
• Age :: "Some people tell me I'm younger than I look." Hazel was born December 21st, 1994 in Seattle, Washington. She is eighteen years old, but wishes she was older so people would take her more seriously.
• Family :: "What family?" Hazel has a mother named Stephanie, a father named Paul, and a younger brother named Jack. Hazel got along with Jack better than most siblings, but it was mainly because neither of them liked other people very much, so they would just sit in their room together most of the time. Even though they never really spoke much, Hazel considered Jack to be one of her best friends until she made the big move down to Hawaii a year or so ago. Hazel's relationship with her parents was very complicated, because Hazel would always demand independence, but her parents thought she wanted attention, so they tried to spend as much time as possible with her even though that was the opposite of what she wanted. Other than that, Hazel had a very mature and responsible relationship with them.

• Personality :: Hazel has a personality that usually does not mix well with other personalities, which caused her to be a social outcast when she was younger. She was considered very "boyish" as a child due to the fact that she had no fear of the unknown. Just because she was boyish did not mean she was a tomboy, though. She didn't like to wear baseball hats and play video games; she wore skirts and was a polite young for the most part, but she had an interest in things that would be considered taboo to other girls her age. Hazel loved dead things, and would often bring home roadkill and dead animals she found in the park. She'd dissect them, and clean their bones and put them into jars. Her parents did their best to support her in her interests, but they also sheltered her because of it, fearing that she would be teased and taunted about her fascination with death. Since Hazel was not sociable as the other kids her age, she'd often spend her time outside of school locked in her room, reading and organizing her bone jars. As Hazel grew older, her personality began to blossom from the quiet girl who liked dead things into something much for intricate and definitive. By then, it was quite obvious she was a very bright girl, but Hazel tended to be what they call a "know-it-all". She would correct others' grammar when they spoke, and would interject if someone was giving false information. Because of this, Hazel would often come off as rude even when she wasn't meaning to. Even though she had a vast library of things to say inside of her head, she never said them unless spoken to, or as earlier explained, she was correcting somebody. Another large part of her personality is that she takes everything very literally, and has a hard time understanding sarcasm, which can often lead to misunderstandings. Even though Hazel is very intelligent, she can be manipulated into doing things very easily, which is one of the reasons she hunts mermaids. [The other being she has no problem with death or killing, as long as she's not killing a human.] Since she was so desensitized to death at an early age, it is hard for her to express empathy for the mermaids that she is sent to exterminate, making her extremely lethal. Overall, Hazel isn't very spontaneous, friendly, loving, or kind. She can be a loyal friend, but not the nicest most interesting one. To be able to love Hazel, you have to understand her, which isn't always easy.
• Likes :: "I don't like much." The ocean, warm days, frozen yogurt, dull colors, routines, the smell of rain, cats, being taken seriously, boats, birds, brussel sprouts, death, clocks, watching paint dry.
• Dislikes :: "This might be a while." Dogs, being corrected, exploring new places, things that are not familiar, sand, the smell of asparagus,
• Hobbies :: "I'll tell you this much, I don't have a stamp collection." As mentioned earlier, Hazel collects bones. She started when she was very young, mostly just squirrel and raccoon bones, but now she has a beautiful collection. She's purchased human skulls, found seal bones along the shoreline, and now hopes to add some mermaid bones to her collection. Of course, she expresses no malice in her hunt for the mermaids, just a childish curiosity and wonder when it comes to dealing with the unknown.

• Hair color :: "I wish my hair was naturally blue... but sadly, it's not physically possible..." Hazel has been dying her hair a bright blue for the last eight years, since she was fourteen. Her natural hair color is sandy brown, but she wanted to stand out, since she couldn't stand out by being herself since she was so drab.
• Eye color :: "They match my hair!" Hazel's eyes are a very simple deep blue color, bordering on turquoise. Near the pupil they're a light brown, and on the rim they're a dark cerulean.
• Blemishes/Freckles :: "Why are you asking me these questions, anyways?" Hazel's face is covered in splashes of light freckles, and she has them on her shoulders as well. They are natural, not from the sun, since she grew up in Seattle where the sun rarely visited.
• Height and Weight :: "Isn't that a little personal?" Hazel is five foot eight and a half, and weighs a healthy one hundred and twenty pounds, most of it being lean muscle.

• Quote :: William Shakespeare wrote:The evil that men do lives after them; the good is oft interred with their bones.
• Allergies :: "Don't laugh..." Hazel is actually lactose-intolerant, meaning she is allergic to cow's milk, but only to an extent.
• Illnesses :: "Are you suggesting something?" She has no known mental or physical illnesses, other than asthma.
• Themesong :: "Are you done asking questions, now?" Youth- Daughter

Just a little bit further. The small girl squatted down and carefully inched across the mossy boulder, flinching every time the waves crashed against the ledge Foamy water arose into the cold air and lashed out over her, and she held her breath, expecting her two slim legs to vanish beneath the wetness any second. Nothing happened. Sighing with relief, she reached her hand out in an attempt to snatch her stuffed bear, who sat at the ridge of the ledge, practically hanging over the swirling torrent. Two button eyes starred into her own grey irises, begging for assistance before he fell into the rocky waters. “It’s okay, I’m coming, Tandy,” Izzy said, huffing with effort. If she were to lose her footing and fall from the ledge, the long distance down and shards of rocks would easily break her neck—even a mermaid couldn’t escape the situation alive. Just a little bit further....
Something crumbled underfoot. Izzy was dragged further down the rocks, screaming, and barely managed to snag the ridge top. She found herself hanging over the roaring waters, legs dangling and exposed to the crashing waves. As she looked around in panic, her wet black hair flicked face and made it nearly impossible to see. Tandy was beside her, his head lolled and fur damp with salt water. She gathered him into her arms and struggled to heave herself up, shivering as they were sprayed by the coming waves. This time her legs began to tingle, and with horror, Izzy realized the H20 contact was a problem. The frightened mermaid glanced at her stuffed bear, “What do we do?” Tandy offered no help. Gritting her teeth, Izzy began to wriggle, ignoring the painful throb that came from her hands. She felt a wet and sticky puddle forming around them, but she couldn’t be sure if it was the tide pools inside the cracks or blood. She refused to die by the one thing she loved most—water. That would be awful. “I think it’s working, Tandy,” she gasped, pulling herself up. Her feet touched the rocky ledge surface, trembling and knocking knees. “We did it!” Laughing out of hysteria, Izzy crawled over the rocks and bolted for the sandy shore, vowing never to climb that horrible ledge again. Below her, the sea screamed furiously for her sucess.
When she made it to the private beach, no one was there. Above her, stormy clouds clustered together and threatened to ruin a perfectly chilly morning. Izzy didn’t care. She plopped down in the sand and hugged Tandy very tightly, gasping and coughing for breath. People had always told her she was an airhead...but this? This really crossed the line. When she looked down at her hands, the petite girl realized they had both been cut in several places and were gushing red. Izzy wiped sweat from her forehead, smearing blood against it. I think this might take a lot of bandaids.
{ I'd like to plan out an impossible / human romance with Izzy.
PM me if your interested.

Bradley scuffed his boots in the sand as he walked along the beach, his hands stuffed in the pockets of his blazer. His gaze roved the open water that began only a few steps away, as he made his way down towards the pier. Of course, he was one of many who knew - or who had at least heard about - the creatures in these waters. Mermen, mermaids, whatever you'd like to call them. There were skeptics in town, who didn't believe in all of that supersticious crap, and then there were those - Bradley included - who spent their lives searching for the creatures down below the waves.
Of course, the boy knew that there were some who's reasons were a bit side-tracked and demented as they looked for the mermaids - those who hunted them down for their scales, or just because they were different. Bradley had only seen one mermaid in his entire life - one by the name of Felix Thorne - and he would never forget just how beautiful the creatures were. The girl's voice had the pleasant tone of an angel, even when she was only speaking, and it only intensified when she sang. The two talked occasionally, even though he knew that she wasn't supposed to be mingling with humans. He had stroked her tail, and even swam with her a time or two. It was brilliant.
Bradley pulled himself from his thoughts as he reached the pier, finding a fairly peculiar sight in front of him. There stood, at the end of the rickety old dock, a girl with blue hair. He wasn't surprised in the least, though - he knew that there were people of all kinds in Hawaii. He saw her watching a car drive off in the distance, and tilted his head to the side, shivering underneath his blazer as the winds from the sea gusted by.
"Aren't you cold?" He called out from his end of the pier, raising his eyebrows at the blue-haired girl, where she stood.

Felix was down the coast a ways from where Bradley had begun to converse the the girl with blue hair, sprawled out on a rock, her legs dangling in the water. Yes, legs. She knew better than to be sitting so close to the shore with her bright silver tail glistening above the water, so she had made sure she looked completely human before reaching the surface. She hummed a soft tune to herself, as she glided her fingertips over the water, wishing nothing more than to run away from the water. Run away forever. But she knew she couldn't.
The water wasn't just her home - it was her cage. She couldn't leave the water for more than a short while before she knew she would have to go back, before her legs once again transformed into a tail. Thus was her life; she hated every moment of it. Oh, how she longed to be human. Their lives were so blissfully simple in every way. She let out a small sigh, letting her head fall back into the water, and float on the surface for a few seconds.
She slipped down from her perch on the rock, before flattening her entire body on the surface of the water, and began to drift along the shore. She watched for any of her own kind to appear, knowing that she would serve dreadful consequences if she were caught in this form. But she, honestly, wasn't that too worried. It was worth it, she thought, to be able to experience the life of a human for a few precious moments.

• Hazel ran her dainty fingers down the stiff, salt-encrusted wood of the old pier. She shifted her weight slightly to the side, and it groaned malevolently as if to suggest it could crack and send Hazel into the waters at any given moment. Her toes were dipped into the clear aquamarine water, and she splashed her feet around playfully to amuse herself. A warm breeze from the west tousled her hair, some strands getting stuck in her chap stick. She brushed it away, spitting softly. The soft splashing of the waves onto the nearby sandy beach lulled Hazel into somewhat of a state of calm, alleviating her frayed nerves.
• Life in Hawaii wasn't what she expected it to be; everyone's image of the islands were palm trees and white sandy beaches, but in reality it was much more than that. There were two cultures that battled each other constantly, without falter. The native Hawaiians against the wealthy entrepreneurs and tourists; you see, the Hawaii that you see in the commercials, that's the artificial Hawaii that's been plasticized by the media. The real Hawaii though, the Hawaii that's so hard to find in the thick hordes of tourists, that was what Hazel hadn't expected. Now of course, it was a rather pleasant surprise, for she admired their lifestyle and how they went about living their lives as if the whole island was their's. The only problem was that since she was not a native, one of them, it had been rather difficult to get close enough to them to understand them. But, over the last year, she had distanced herself from the new Hawaii that she had been initially drawn to, and accepted the natives and their ways. In return, the native men and women of Hawaii accepted her in return.
• But, as the word that there were mermaids in Hawaii began to reach the rest of the world, the tourist population tripled within weeks. Neighborhoods that had previously been quiet parts of the old Hawaii were now overrun by camera crews and tourists. Islanders that Hazel had acquainted began to rally together on mermaid hunts, where they would go down to the beaches in the night with spears that they used for spear-fishing to attempt and kill the newly discovered creatures. Soon, the government found out about it and put it to a stop as soon as possible. Soon, any Hawaiian seen by the shore was reported for "suspicious activity" due to the mermaid hunting rallies by the locals earlier in the month. But then, Hazel had a realization; she was not a local, nor did she look like one. She would be able to kill of the creatures without arousing much suspicion, not to mention she'd be able to put their bones in their collection. Locals began offering payment if she would slay the creatures of the sea. Noted, she hadn't slain one yet, but she'd spend her nights by the sea with a spear, waiting for the night when she would be able to add mermaid bones to her collection.
• A nearby car rumbling down the road broke Hazel's train of thought and snapped her back into reality, her head whipping around to watch the vehicle slowly fade out into the distance. She returned her gaze to the water, watching schools of small fish zip around algae-covered rocks, swaying in the motion of the ever restless sea.

• Another draft of cool air gushed over the island, causing goose pimples to rise on Hazel's arms. She took in a deep breath of the salty air, and exhaled it slowly to keep the lingering scent of salt inside of her as long as she could manage, until taking another breath to replenish it. At this moment in time, she couldn't help feeling at peace, if there was such a thing. It was a feeling of serenity, as if nothing in the entire world could bother her. Except for umbrellas; yes, she didn't quite like umbrellas.
• As she pondered the thought of why she had such distaste for umbrellas, a voice sounded behind her, causing her to squeal in surprise. She had been sitting on the pier with the thought that she was alone, which was obviously not the case. She turned her head, craning her neck to get a glimpse just who was speaking to her. It was a young man whom looked to be around the same age as she, with fine looking features. She nearly asked, "who, me?" But decided that would be a rather stupid sounding question due to the fact that they were the only two on the pier. "Oh, well, I suppose I'm a bit chilled; but it's nothing you should worry yourself over," She replied curtly with a modest smile, her head tilted slightly to the side.
