The Parallel | A Mutant/Powers/Fantasy RP

There is a popular theory all scientists know; the parallel world theory. The theory is rather simple to describe, but in reality is extremely complicated.

Every single decision, event, birth, and death creates a new world where this decision, event, birth, or death did not happen.

Sounds simple, right? Right. But think deeper. Imagine a world tha split at the beginning of time. How might this world be different? Extremely. In fact, that world is the focus of our roleplay.

In this world, the very air is different. It is breathable, but something in it slowly changes the inhabitants until each and every one is different from the last. The air changes even the fabric of that universe until gates to our worlds start appearing. Humans from our world constantly wonder in, but never find a way out. The humans are slowly changed by the new environment until even the creator(s) cannot tell them apart. Most humans die, but some live. Will you?

Setting and Terms

Postby Wormgod » Mon Sep 17, 2012 3:51 am

There are a couple main areas to this world, and some common terminology. I'll list them here, and when new areas and term are created, I'll add them to the list.

Settings
The Arrival Land - Known simply as "The Arrival" to the inhabitants, this land is only seen once. Once an outlander leaves, they can never find their way back. This are contains all the doors to other universes, and it's actual location changes so much, barely anyone but outlanders get to see it.
The land looks like a flat plane of blue grass. Boulders and trees with doors on them are scattered for seemingly miles. Gravity is strong here, so many leave feeling weighed down and exhausted.

The Plains - Flat grasslands that go for miles. All sorts of weird things live here. Herding animals are a common sight, and so are packs of predators and small tribes of people.

The Skylands - Flying chunks of land in the great blue sky. The Skylands hang over a gigantic volcano. Many think the land came from a volcanic eruption so big that caused chunks of earth to fly into the air and stay there. Flying creatures and teleporters like it here. Most of the foliage consists of giant mushrooms.

The Red Mountain - The gigantic volcano below the Skylands. No matter where you are in this world, you can see the Red Mountains. It's that freaking big.
As far as anyone knows, this volcano is dormant. No one is brave enough to go inside and check. There are rumors that a pyrokinetic (fire-controller) serial killer lives inside.
Lots of flaming creatures (ex: phoenixes) live around/on the volcano.

Terms
Outlander - Term for a new arrival to the land. Always a human.
Transformation - A thing that outlanders go through. The air in this world causes new arrivals to go through a change; their soul and body slowly morph into something completely new and weird. No one knows what will happen to a new arrival. Lots of people from this world like to hang around with outlanders, just to see what will happen to them and how they will react. It's like television to them.
The Hist - A race of living, breathing, telepathic, moving trees that inhabit the lands. Small forests of them migrate the world and eat whatever gets stuck inside, like a carnivorous plant. They look like ordinary trees, so it's hard to tell what's a Hist and what isn't. Do not piss off the Hist, or you will die.

Rules, rules, rules

Postby Wormgod » Mon Sep 17, 2012 3:58 am

Basic rule stuff - Yes, we all know this one. No Gary/Mary Sues, no powerplaying, no godmodding or being mean. It's all common sense.
Literacy - I'm a literacy freak, so this is a big one. Just keep your posts to a good paragraph minimum. I will not give a description of a good paragraph - that is up to you. What is good for you may be extremely hard for others. Decide for yourself.
Characters - This is also a big one. Pretty much anything is okay for me, but it may be insane for others. Just remember; we are playing the outlanders. The original inhabitants are NPCs for anyone to use at their whim. Now: the character limit is four, two boys and two girls. If needed, you may kill off a character and get another boy or girl. Just keep the genders pretty even.
Blood and Romance is awesome - But keep it at PG-13. Also, no drama hogs or plot hogs. If you want to make something awesome happen, PM me first so I can okay it.
More rules might be added.

Notice I don't have a form. Why? Because one of my friends told me it scares away illiterate people.

My Characters

Postby Wormgod » Mon Sep 17, 2012 4:10 am

Name: Meryl Jones
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Appearance: At first, Meryl wasn't much to look at. A pale, brunette girl with blue eyes and a good figure, but too shy to show it off. She arrived when she was exorcizing, so she wore a YMCA tee, sports bra, and sweat pants. Soon these clothes were gone. All that remains are the sweat pants (now cut into shorts) and the sports bra. It gets hot in this world, people.

Later, she will slowly develop dark green reptilian scales. Her body, pushed to the limit having to survive in the wild, will grow until she is taller and more muscular than before. She will sprout a tail, claws, and become connected to the Hist, a race of sentient, carniverous trees.
Abilities: Being so thickly scaled, it is hard to hurt Meryl. Concussions and bruises still happen, but actually causing her to bleed is hard. Most cannot do it without a blade of some sort, or some magic.
Meryl is also connected to the Hist, the telepathic trees that move by themselves. This will drive her a little mad. She is co-dependent with the Hist; they need her to protect them from fire, and she needs them to protect her from any other dangers.
Personality: Meryl starts out as a foul-mouthed, slightly "ghetto" girl. She hails from a poor section of an unknown big city, and likes to show it. She has an ego and a stubborn will and is outto prove that anybody can kick life's a**. With the changes that will come, Meryl will turn more savage and much more stubborn.

I have a lot going on this weekend and an increased workload this week so replies may be slow.
