Everyone knows the stories. A small, black-haired boy with a red hat drifts into town. In his steps follow a the most powerful team Kanto has ever seen. No one stands in his way. No one knows his real name, or were he came from. He was always "the boy with the red hat" until finally his name was shortened to Red. He became one of Kanto's best Pokemon Masters. He came and went in the span of a year, and no one, not even his autobiography's publishing agent knows who he is.

Fifty years later in 2046 the world is a very different place. Many new laws have been placed, due to increased Pokemon attacks. Team Rocket is thought to have disbanded after Red kicked their butts. Nearly every kid goes off on their own Pokemon Journey, for their own reasons. Many try to follow in Red's steps, and others simply want to explore their region with some pokemon. Others are trying to become a gym leader and want to catch their gym's type.

Whatever the reason, hundreds of kids hit the road the summer of their last year in school. Any kid twelve or older is legally allowed to venture into the world by themselves, and with pokemon. Every year, one of Kanto's ten cities hosts the New Trainer Expo, and this year it is Pallet's turn. Hundreds of kids flood the roads and into the tiny country town for their starter, Pokedex, and Trainer license. Now a special group of kids is coming, and no one can stop them...

Extra Information

Postby Wormgod » Thu Jun 21, 2012 9:10 am

Image

The world has changed a lot since Red's time. The age limit for new trainers has been raised to twelve, after a few kids were killed by an angry mother Pinsir and their rich parents sued the Pokedex company for not giving them proper information on the bug pokemon. All sorts of new laws are in place; annoying ones, fun ones, and just plain weird ones.

Nowadays the Pokedex is much cooler. Instead of the small two-sentence Pokedex entry, a kid can learn anything they want about their pokemon just by scanning it. It also contains information on the pokemon's weight, height, gender, level, and where to find it. There's even a handy alarm that sounds when your pokemon is in critical condition. There's even a phone, tech support, a map (the same as the Town Map), and if your pokemon faint, you are teleported to the last visited Pokemon Center.

Instead of being forced to start with the classic three, some kids can start their journeys with their own pokemon. It is not recommended, and no one is sure if it is legal (catching a wild pokemon is illegal unless you have a license or are over sixteen) but it is growing even more trendy. These kids just have to sign a form and get their license and a Pokedex and they're set.

Image
Routes are much longer than one would expect. From looking at the outdated Town Map or the map on the Pokedex, one has to guess just how long those little yellow lines are. For example, Route 1 takes only about twenty minutes, but Route 12 takes at least a day, not including if you need to heal your pokemon.

Gyms are much different, and probably the most favored system. When you challenge a gym, the gym leader will match his pokemon according to your highest leveled pokemon. They are not necessarily the same level, but they will never be higher. Many kids have been saved from embarrassment by this system. But not always. Just as if the kids lost all their pokemon, they will be instantly teleported back to the Pokecenter.

The Actual Plot (Yes, it exists.)

Postby Wormgod » Thu Jun 21, 2012 9:51 am

Take due care to read this as it develops...

For the last fifty years, Pokemon have changed completely. With new laws, less children are in danger. With new technology, less deaths and amber alerts occur. In Red's time, your pokemon were your only asset on the woods. Now the very thing that identifies pokemon--The Pokedex--can save your sorry butt from that insane Pinsir I mentioned before.

But, the world is still not safe. In the past two years, more and more pokemon-related deaths or injuries occur. Some are kept from the news to keep a region-wide panic at bay, but the news still spreads. "What happened to Johnny?" "His Rattata just went nuts. I heard it used Hyper Fang on him. They needed his dental records to identify his body." "What!? But my girlfriend has a Rattata!"

Pokemon, trained and wild, are starting to slip. Some get worse than others, and no one can find a pattern. Silph Co. is doing all it can to see just what, or possibly whom, is behind the sudden aggression. All they can do is hope this next patch of kids knows what they're doing.

Your Mission

Postby Wormgod » Thu Jun 21, 2012 10:53 am

Image

Your mission? Simple. You are a new pokemon trainer. Perhaps you just had your twelfth birthday, and you want to get a starter? If that's the case, you got your first pokemon from the New Trainer Expo from Professor Holly. Or maybe you already have a secretly caught pokemon; something common to your area. Maybe you're from Viridian, and you have a Weedle? Whatever you have, it is fresh and ready to be trained.

Wait...lets back up a bit. Training is hard. Pokemon aren't mindless little war machines! They have personalities and hopes and dreams. Half the time, a freshly caught pokemon or starter has their own weird quirks. Fire-types usually don't obey their trainers unless proven their trainer is strong enough. Grass-types are pretty mellow...sometimes too mellow. Psychic-types don't like ignorant trainers, Ghost-types need to be watched at all times or they might run away...etc. Every trainer needs to find what makes their pokemon tick and earn their trust. If not, their pokemon will never obey them, and might even run away.

Rules

Tess' Rules and the Forum Rules WILL Be followed
I'm serious.

Swearing kept to a minimum
I don't mind the occasional "damn", "hell" and other words, but no "F" or "N" words.

Pokemon
A trainer may catch up to six pokemon. All other pokemon will automatically be sent to the PC Box in the Pokecenters.

Semi-Realisim
What do I mean by Semi-Realisim? Pokemon are not war machines. We will be playing trainer, who most likely have never seen pokemon other than their family pet, or their friends family pet. These kids can only go off of books and movies to know what to expect, and even then there are still many things they need to know. Most of these kids are twelve, too. There will be many awkward and embarrassing moments, especially when a pokemon learns a new attack. (Imagine a Bulbasaur using Razor Leaf for the first time...That won't end well. )

No Mary/Gary Sues, either.

Games
Please have knowledge of Generation 1 games, Red, Blue, and Green. Natures and abilities did not exist in Generation 1. When you are making your characters, please check Bulbapedia, and make sure you are looking at the Generation 1 moveset.

Semi-Literacy
This means a minimum of 4 sentences-- And I am not talking fragmented or non-detailed sentences. You must have good grammar and no spelling mistakes.

Your Team
No legendaries/minor legendaries on your team.

Forms
Only use the forms provided. You cannot use your own form and I will not accept you if you do not use the forms provided.

Adding Rules
If I see a rule that is needed then I will put it up with in bold and expect it to be followed.

Quick Rule I Forgot:
Every trainer's starter will begin at Level 5.

Meryl
Username: Wormgod

Name: Meryl Cascada
Age: 12
Gender: Female

Starter Pokemon: Image Aqua. Her older brother gave it to her.
Trainer Type: Water, Fighting, and Normal types.
Hometown:
Vermilion

Personality: Meryl is a tough girl. She gets into competitions to win and not for any other reason. Her expectations for herself are set high, and if she doesn't meet these she is horribly embarrassed. She is quite intelligent, but her stubborn and competitive attitude has a way of taking over and ruining everything. Still, she tries because she won't let herself lose. That's why she loves Fighting pokemon so much; they think like her. Normal types and Water types amaze her too, because they can think up strategies and take advantage of the current area.
Theme Song: N/A
History: Meryl is one of the many children of Milly and Nicholas Cascada, the new couple who run a Moo Moo Farm near Saffron. She grew up being one of the three middle children (out of ten.) and almost never seen as an individual. That's why she's so stubborn to be something; because in the Moo Moo Farm, she was just an extra hand.

Appearance: Meryl almost appears intimidating. She is almost six feet tall with broad shoulders and her classic piercing glare. Her blue-black hair is cut short in a boyish style, with the bangs being the longest part. The cover nearly all of her forehead and a tiny bit of her dark blue eyes.

She usually wears practical clothes. She never had fancy clothes, and why get into the habit now when she will spend most of her time on the road with animals? It seems silly to her, and she keeps to her white tanktop and jeans "style." It's her "thing", like how Red's hat was his "thing." Her older brother (also a trainer) told her every good trainer needs a "thing."

「 Kailani Kaiwi 」
Username: Aya Shameimaru

ɴαмe: Kailani Kaiwi
αɢe: 19
ɢeɴder: Female

Trainer Type: Fire/Electric

Original Starter Pokemon:
ImageJazz

Hometown: Cianwood City

perѕoɴαlιтy: We'll start with the basics- she hates being called short, hates it when the matter of height or lack thereof is being rubbed in her face, and she doesn't like milk. Being a stubborn one, Kailani, or K.K as friends call her, insisted that only she would go through on her journey when she had more experience with pokemon, and now at 19 she has plenty of it.
Image

Image
Image

She has two dreams, encase one doesn't work out for her, one is the become the a Fire Gym leader, and two is to collect pokemon for a natural wildlife center she like to work at one day. Her ambitions might be selfish at times, and once she puts her mind to something, she won't give up. Kailani tends to bear the weight on her shoulders, reluctant to let others assist, even her own family. She is very mature of her age, and hate it when people try to treat her like she's five.

She isn't much of the shy sort, and she isn't afraid to act himself around complete strangers. Kailani might come off as cynical, and maybe even a little bratty at times, but she's got a good heart, and would really have preferred to live a quite, happy and peaceful life with in a cottage with her pokemon far way. Kailani tries to continue to keep in touch with her family through letters or phone calls, so they don't worry.

Kailani is sneaky, and sometimes has a bit of a mean (one might say evil) streak. Her battle methods aren't completely uncouth, more often than not, leaning to the crash and burn effect, but otherwise fairly practical. She's learned not to rely on only high level attacks to win a battle, her teacher (literally) beating it into her thick head. Physically she's quite strong, muscles well-toned and reflexes quick. Her favorite things to do when relaxing are walking though the woods, daydreaming, or reading pokemon books about wildlife, and listing to music.

тнeмe ѕoɴɢ(ѕ): Kings and Queens-30 Seconds to Mars

Appearance: Kailani is a dark brown hair and blue eye, 5'3 girl with waist long brown hair the she usually holds up in a high ponytail with a white baseball cap with a dark pink poke ball insigne on the front. She wears a short sleeve T-shit with a black vest over it. A pair of short blue jeans that had fraying on it and black boots complete her outfit. K.K carries her items and gear in a dark red messenger bag, with a watch being on her right wrist.
