Alec glanced at Shiki, taking in his appearance, and nodded slightly in acknowledgement. He could tell that, so far, this conversation wasn't really going anywhere. He wasn't that much of the social type, so unless he felt the need to he wouldn’t start t talk about something and hope people will join in. A new person’s voice cut his attention, and he regarded her as a child would to a parent who didn’t trust him. “Of course we’re fine. The job I was given was to watch for new arrivals, and she is helping me.” He eyed Shiki. “He just returned from doing his, I believe.”
Briar snorted. “That’s all we came here to do? Steal her candied goodies?” Honestly, he was glad that was all they came to do, but it surprised him none the less. “Not to be rude or anything, but I half expected you to rip this place to shreds.”
