Alec turned to look at her, shocked. He didn't let it show that much, though, as he never likes to be surprised. But seriously, what did she do, read his thoughts? How did she know he felt it was useless. Shocked as he was, her remarks about the rabbit left him speechless. There were many uses for a rabbit. "Small animals like yourself have useful means for scouting, spying, and invasion by the ability to fit into small places. We will need animals such as yourself. Now..." He leaned towards her, an expecting look on his face. "Tell me how a rooster is helpful." He expected her to have no answer, but for some reason he was a little pleased to find that she thought there was use for him yet.
Briar stared after her, assuming she wanted him to follow, but whether or not he could keep up was a problem. He wasn't much for stamina. Still, he started at a slow jog, dodging trees as they came and jumping over low fallen branches. When he came to the brook, seeing that Arita was already on the other side and racing away, he leaped expertly from rock to rock, having done this in much larger rivers whenever his grandfather went into the woods, and Briar followed. Reaching the other side, he saw her in his mind's eye, and wondered briefly where they were going.

I've been dumped a boatload of work to do before college, so I will post when I can. Life is my nemesis.
